Spinning Reel

What's the latest information on a quality spinning reel?  Probably in a 4 or 4000 series.  $100 - $200 range.  Could be used on variety of baits.  Best options in your opinion.  Thanks.

Lots of different opinions here probably.  I have mostly pfluegar and diawa spinning reels, no complaints out of either.

Worth noting....spinning reels dont really do that much.  They just need to be comfortable, have smooth drag, and be reliable.  100-200 seems expensive for a spinning reel.  Id choose a 50-100$ reel and take the extra $$ and put it towards the rod budget.

Stradics are good, I have one and it hasn't given me any problems.

I picked up a few Pflueger Supremes and Supreme XT's, the previous version when they were on sale before they introduced the current version.  Great reels with one exception.  That exception is that there is a little piece of metal on the inside of the spool that is part of making the clicking noise when a fish pulls drag.  I've had two of those pieces wear out and you end up with a silent drag.  Not a big deal and maybe they've got a more durable piece on the newest version, but worth mentioning.  The Supremes also do not come with a spare spool.

Daiwa. Don't need to spend a lot. Their $50 twirlers are as good as the $120 ones. Drags work, and they take abuse.

I have a cheap ABU Garcia Cardinal 25 bucks and a shimano sedona 2500 60 dollar reel(bought on sale for 30) and they both do the same job.

Well, setting up new rig. Have had 3 Stradics, 2 - 4000s & 1-2500. 4000s have been good, but the 2500 developed a bad case of the dreaded "locking up when reeling".  So recent Shimanos have not had this issue?  Anyone?

1. I have also had issues with Shimano's.  I have 2 Daiwa Revros a 3000 and 4000 and the 3000 flat has taken a beating including a month in salt fishing the gulf last winter and has not skipped a beat.  It's whats in my hands 90% of the time on LOZ with 30lb J Braid and a 12-15lb leader.
