That's gotta be the best species name ever, right? top_dollar 1
Ham Posted August 28, 2017 Author Posted August 28, 2017 I got Northern Hog Sucker in Janurary on a Zig Jig. I had a chance at another on a Zig Jig is August. He ran it three times high in the water column. Crazy stuff. Johnsfolly, ozark trout fisher, BilletHead and 1 other 4 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

I have caught them with bait and like Ham had caught them on lures. Here is one I caught using a microjig while trout fishing. That sucker chased the bait! I haven't caught on yet this year .

I know that you are asking Ham but as I mentioned never had a flathead on the line. Love to see if we could get a trip together for those guys this fall. I have caught channels and a big blue this year. Missed out on a yellow bullhead but may get back after them. I will be trying for madtoms soon. Missed hooking several and now I'm obsessing about them!

Iv caught some suckers one time in the 11point using worms in cold weather after walleyes I'm stuck at a lowly 40 species which equals my previous "high" for a year. I've made a list of possible fish that is sitting at 39 species. So, I've got room to improve. I'm gonna burn some gas to make sure I get to 52 species for the year. im so far behind John on the species count that he won't even tell me the number. He's trying to save me from having hurt feelings. One cool thing is 13 of my fish species are the fish time I've ever caught them (lifers). It won't hold up, but roughly a third of my total is first time ever which is cool. My total fish caught is very anemic at this point as well. I'm sitting at a paltry 1555 fish caught. Barring a major set back, Ill get to 2000, but it will be the first time in 5 years I won't have caught 3000 fish. Numbers aren't every thing. I'm had some tremendous experiences this year. We were fishing together once, and the only carp caught that day was...by me...by accident while bass fishing with a crankbait. That was the last time I've seen him break that god-forsaken stuff out. most carp bait I make is nice smelling and human food grade, even had a friend eating my snacks once and told him stop eating my bait...PAAAATOOOOWY he spit it out till I told him what was in it Banoffy crunch boilies, big carp love it...and so do people! ozark trout fisher 1 MONKEYS? what monkeys?

Your BC trip added a bunch of fish to the list. I haven't caught anything new lately. I missed a couple of gar strikes last Sunday in Illinois. Not only did I not catch a gar, but I still did not catch a fish in that state. Failed on two counts during that trip. Let me know if your burning gas north of the border! I can get you onto orangethroated darters, commons shiners, blackstriped topminnows, plains topminnnows, etc. I may be looking to try for pickerel again or shadow bass to get to my species goal! ozark trout fisher and BilletHead 2
