Missed a 4-footer on No. 18 for a 79 yesterday afternoon.

I “invented” a solution for just such occasions!

It’s called a “takie” and it can be declared at any time a “gimme” is not forthcoming within a reasonable amount of time.

Lucky for you, they can also be applied retroactively (a useful amendment to the original legislation) at any time within 24 hours after completion of your round. (Exceptions for the 24 hour time restriction are considered on a case by case basis. Just let me know when you need an extension and I’ll get back to you ASAP with a ruling).

Congratulations on the 79!

October is notoriously slow and I also believe the glut of baitfish left from two years of no winter shad kill is complicating things. Many fish are simply following the shad schools and not setting up on traditional places.

you are right about the abundance of shad, but that is the best reason that i know of to do some stocking and really get our bass population back to where it was before the fish kill.

Hmmmm...........I was unaware of this "takie" rule!   Is there a limit per round?  And what is the maximum distance allowed for a takie?

I'm always behind the curve on golf and fishing innovations!!   😳

i think 80 is a great score.  the way my body is i could not even shoot double bogey.  so, i don't even think of taking golf back up at all.

better fishing is almost here.  i think in the next week or so, you will begin to find some up on the flats.  as i have stated before, it really helps to cherry pick the right days to go, especially when you are wanting to catch them doing certain things.  but, i really think both deep and shallow fishing is really close to being here.

Sandbaggin again!  How long do you plumb bob a 2'er waiting for the gimme to be offered?  I knew a guy that would plumb bob for 2 hours waiting but it was never forthcoming because we all knew he couldn't make it or he would have already made it.

Thanks, Bo, I was reasonably happy with the 80 considering that I've had the dickens getting below that number all year. I think I shot 78 once and maybe another 79 but just haven't been consistent at all. Sorry you aren't able to play anymore ... it's sure addicting, but so is fishing and you do one heckuva job of that.

About the abundance of shad ... you are dead right about now being a prime time to stock us some extra bass. But sadly, if I had to lay a bet whether that will happen, I know which side I'd put my money on. Just doesn't make sense in my simple mind why we can host darn near every professional bass tournament association under the moon but we can't see fit to stock some extra fish for all of us to enjoy. Guess none of that all-hailed revenue the national tournaments bring in is going to MDC.

No limits unless I say so.

It’s good to be the king!

Odds are you’re safe.

Takie away until further notice and watch your scores plummet.

You’re welcome.......

Fished Sunday, Monday and yesterday. Thirteen fish and three (barely) keeper smallmouth.  A couple of fourteen inch Kentucky’s.

All caught on Ned.

Zip on my beloved spinnerbait or anything else for that matter.

When it gets like this, I lose interest way faster than when I was young!

As an aside, whatever happened to the white bass?  When fishing got tuff we used to be able to default to chasing whites to keep us entertained and provide for a couple of fish frys. Used to be able to do that April, May, September and October on a pretty regular basis.

However, we ain’t seen a school of whites in at least four years and probably haven’t accidentally caught more than half a dozen during that same span. Just curious.

Oh well.

Back to the golf course I guess!

You want whites LOZ is the place, as the water cools more it will really get going, got a limit of nice hybrids and crappie the other day.
