Ketchup Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 "You do know that there's a torque sequence on those 4 mount screws, right? Middle ones first." Yes. I did 2nd screw, 4th screw, 1st screw, 3rd screw, repeat until tightened. I was clamped down, trust me. Without that stop pin being set down into the hole, i dont think it would ever not move back. I think is has to do with the weight of the compression spring and the piston, also, semi-cushioned?, maybe not so much, think about hitting a car tire as hard as you can with a 2 lb hammer. I think it has to do with the abrupt change of recoil direction too.
fishinwrench Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I say "semi-cushioned" because the compression of the pellet in the barrel adds some back pressure. The piston wouldn't slam hard against the stop like it would if say you dry fired it
lee G. Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Right, but i think it still comes to a really abrupt halt and rebounds like crazy.

One with the spring and piston goes forward, another when the piston reaches the limit of forward travel, and one when the piston rebounds and compresses the spring a certain amount? Three would be tough on a scope mount with the sudden changes of direction.

And in all actuality I don't see why it would be any worse than a bolt slamming shut on a semi-auto powder gun..... but apparently it is. I never had problems with scopes jumping around on center-fire rifles back when I used to shoot them almost daily. I sure don't understand the mechanics of Gamo's RRR (recoil reducing rail). Unless the rail MOVES (which it doesn't/can't) then how the hell does having a nylon buffer attached to a stop do ANYTHING? The dude that designed that must be stoned. A carbon fiber gasket between the receiver and rail would lessen shock quite a bit.
fishinwrench Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Well as I posted earlier, it had gotten "uncomfortable" to shoot from a sitting or prone position because I had somehow gotten older and fatter than I realized, so I invented a stretching ritual to loosen myself up. My wife watches me and is like "What In The Hell Are you Doing?" Without even thinking I blurted out "I'm loosening up for a game of Naked Twister. You interested?" I'll spare you the play by play...but today I'm suffering from a wicked crick in my neck and my right arm is numb. The stretching excersize is helping alot though, I am once again able to get my elbows comfortably on my knees and shoot good from that position again. I won't be able to practice Prone until my neck muscles loosen up again.
