Late start, lots of other hunters around the area I was in. Walked far, sat down, watched squirrels for 30mins before his girlfriend came pounding down the hill with him in pursuit. I had to yell at him to get him to stop long enough to shoot....wobbled, staggered 20 yards across a trail before laying down.

Ready to go back to the Bow and see if I can make that happen as well.

Congrats on a very nice buck! Got thick bases and great tine length. Good luck when you pick up your bow again!

Public Buck.....the pack out was uphill both ways :D. I gutted, quartered, and trimmed him where he died.

Nice job. I shot one about 10 years ago on private land 1.7 miles from the only road leading in. The landowners farm manager had always left the padlock unlocked during deer season. Well i shot the deer on the weekend he and the owner were both out of state.  Had a buddy hunting on the same property. We tied legs together, ran a stick front to back thru the legs, and started up and down those steep hills carrying that thing. A smart guy woulda cut him up, but not us.  The property i hunt now, i can drive anywhere.

I got my first one ever, deep in weldon spring ca, several years ago. Even had a little dolly I used as a deer cart, and it took me forever to get him up and along the main ridge and out to the road. Told myself I wouldn’t do that again. Then this year I hunt another ca the first 5 days, and only see one deer. Having been picked for the 2nd weekend managed rifle hunt at Weldon I decided to go to the same place again. I get one that Sunday and find myself repeating the same journey. At least I didn’t have to leave him there overnight like the first time, but I had him gutted and the dolly brought to the spot by 11, and still didn’t make it back to the parking lot until maybe half an hour before sunset. I tracked it this time with the aid of my fitbit and it came out to be 2 miles, with the majority of that in thick brush and woods.
