ILLEGAL GIGGING: November firearms deer season is a busy time for Missouri’s conservation agents, but other enforcement duties aren’t neglected. These illegally gigged fish were seized by conservation agents Keith Wollard and Susan Swem on the opening weekend of November firearms deer season. Wollard was on routine patrol on the evening of Nov. 14 when he spotted a boat on Pomme De Terre River in Polk County and noticed one of the giggers displaying a large black bass that had been collected. It is illegal to gig game fish. The agents continued to watch the boat for the next five hours. At approximately 1:15 a.m., after the suspects had left the river and were headed to their vehicles, they were stopped and questioned. This resulted in the confiscation of 13 gigged game fish – eight black bass (two of which were over five pounds), three crappie, and two catfish. All three individuals were issued citations. If you witness or suspect a wildlife violation, report it to your local conservation agent or call Operation Game Thief toll-free at 1-800-392-111. – Joe@MDC

That will generate some school funds. Can they take the boat too like in other crimes?

Criminals will be criminals and poachers will poach, since they were violating the gig law in a couple of ways this doesn't really have anything to do with legal giging, does it? I believe it comes from allowing the use of boats on that water. A background investigation for all boat registration might keep some criminal types from that kind of poaching.

Yeah it only takes a few.

But it's never happened either.

As  I have said for years, we loose more fish to legal and illegal rod and reel fisherman. It's not even remotely close.
