Found another little barb in the tax bill today. No deduction for interest on home equity loans. This bill is sausage, tons of nickel & diming on the individual side.

Would pay your 4th quarter state estimate plus your expected state & local liabilities in by 12/31 this year. Can deduct this year, probably not in 2018.

...and needed skills will change. If you expect to prosper because what you’re good at *used* to be in demand, you can expect to be left behind.

We can dream of labor jobs with great benefits and a pension, but that’s a smaller and smaller piece of the pie these days. And it’s not because cigar-chomping executives are sucking off all the money and getting rich at the working stiffs expense, it’s because of competition from all over the globe—something we weren’t up against as much a generation ago. Best to get ahead of the competition and take charge of your future, rather than expect somebody to provide one for you just because you won the ovarian lottery and were born in the most prosperous time and country in the history of mankind. BTW, if you’ve got what it takes to be a cigar-chomping exec, more power to you. We’ve got room for hundreds of thousands of you in our 300 million-plus population.

As to taxes...our elected officials have saddled us with this cluster stuff of regulations, which are more about making constituents happy and less about funding the necessary functions of government. Best to take your deductions to the extent they are available and minimize the amount your pour into the bottomless pit.  Don’t cheat—pay what you owe, and nothing more.

It is in demand now, it “used” to be and it still is, just changed with new technology. And Stein still can’t find enough good help. I’m in machine shops almost 5 days a week....same story everywhere.

Yeah, yeah, I get that. There’s a growing movement recognizing that. My comments were less about what you said and more about the ‘woe is me, it’s not as good as it used to be’ attitude.

Now, go like my post—we’re in a dead heat😄

We look all day every day for skills like machining or programming. Win some, lose some and rely on programming decisions into the machines to compensate. Big difference between a machinist and an operator...

back to taxes, the employed pay plenty... machinists or fat cat execs.

I believe like Michelle Bachman once said. Every person should pay income tax regardless of their situation. It is destroying the human character to pay nothing. 47% of the people in the US pay nothing. Not good.

Too many get representation without taxation. They get to vote for taxes on a state and local level that they will not directly pay. Everyone needs to have some skin in the game.

That is so very true Mitch. People need to be closer together in understanding. I know there is a song that says. " if you dont love your neighbor you cant love God " you got to want and really try to understand all sides of we the people. You do not need to love them litterly but you ned to tey and understand where rhey ar and where they come from..
