Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 19, 2018 Root Admin Posted January 19, 2018 I'll ride down with either Seth or DJ when they're here. Just let me know. JestersHK 1

Its the age old question who is smarter the guy who designs the transmission or the guy who builds and fixes them... Vernon your sig quote really hits home for me. No other job field has as many experts, engineers, architects, acting at such a level of stupidity its mind blowing as the IT field. I still look back to my early years and ask myself what I was thinking screwing around with computers. Not a field I recommend to anyone, but it pays the bills... Would always much rather be doing anything else LOL. When I was a kid (early 1800's) I used to think that astronauts were the most amazing people on the planet primarily because what they did was so beyond the realm of things that I could comprehend. Then YOU guys came around and all of a sudden lunar landings didn't seem like all that big a deal at all anymore! But, as momma always said, "Stupid is as stupid does." Now if you guys can just get Bill Babler back to operating with full comms, I'll REALLY be impressed! big c 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." It is still far more impressive putting a man on the moon with the limited tech that was available back then. It does not really take that much to trouble shoot a pc now days. So you're one of those guys that believes that we actually went to the moon with that old technology, huh? Best be careful with that notion else wise Champ's black van will be parked outside your house! Just kidding. I really wish my dad had lived long enough to experience some of the more modern tech. He was reading about "future tech" and computer stuff in Popular Science magazine back in the 70's and 80's and it's all he ever talked about. Completely fascinated. Unfortunately, about the closest he got to it was a Commodore 64! "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." jdmidwest Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I used to do food inventory on a Commodore 64. Wrote the spreadsheet and all. Double sided floppy disk and all. It was a huge advancement from the dialup mainframe and Apple 2 c that we had in the labs at college. Seth Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I was wiped out after the tourney yesterday so I didn’t make it to Bill’s. Phil said he will go over there one of these days and get in touch with one of us techies and try to get this issue resolved.

Do a better job than me. I've been down to fish the last two tournaments and haven't found the time (or energy after a long day of fishing) to make it out there. One thing I was going to suggest if Bill has a computer with Windows handy is to install Teamviewer. That would enable one of us techies to hop on remotely and try a few things. JestersHK 1
JestersHK Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Yeah thats a good idea if I can't get it figured out. Figure one of us tech nerds outta be able to get to the bottom of it grizwilson 1
Seth Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 We may have to route his traffic through a proxy or VPN hosted in a foreign country, but by golly he will be able to see OAF when we are done! Quillback, grizwilson and JestersHK 2 1
