I accidentally knocked one off the the deck in October. Fortunately, I was able to reach in and grab it before it sank out of reach. Unfortunately, the wind kicked up, I lost my balance, and I fell in after it (only time in my life I’ve ever fallen out of a boat). Lol. I did manage to save the rod though.

 That's another plus to being a shallow water fishermen that I never realized.  I have fallen out twice and both times I was able to just stand up and walk back to the boat.  Kinda hard for me to believe but I don't think I have ever kicked or dropped a rod overboard.  I have fumbled 2 phones and PLENTY of tools though.  The worst ever was a flywheel off a Merc 175 -_-  Had to hire a diver for that one.

I got hung up on a log and was trying to get myself unhung. It couldn’t have been more than 6ft deep. However it was way out in the middle of the lake. I was way up the river on pomme de terre. The wind was blowing like crazy and the water was pretty murky (not to mention cold, it was October). I unfortunately had my cell phone in my pocket at the time. My wife was less than pleased about that.

Yeah, if BPS runs them on sale I cash in my points and get em under $100. I like being able to go back if I hate it. Returned the Revo I bought and got the Tatula.

And I have rared back, unknowingly hooked my partners line, and flung his rod and reel into the lake. I was glad $100 covered it.

And, I personally cap my rod budget at $100 and will go less when I can. I'm not saying there isn't a difference in feel, but I can't feel it. It's just not worth it for me.

Also, I don't get to fish enough to have thousands of dollars of gear just chillin in the garage.

I have lost two rods overboard - one of them was in 8 FOW and after spending about a 1/2 hour dragging the bottom with a spoon was able to snag it and get it back.  The other one went down in 75 FOW on Table Rock and for all I know still sleeps with the fishes.

On the flip side I have recovered three combos - found two of them bank fishing, both were covered in slime and gunk, weren't worth salvaging in my opinion, so gave both of them away.  Snagged another set up while fishing, the $5 crank bait that was still attached was probably worth more than the price of the rod and reel.  Left that one on a picnic table at the COE park, I'm sure someone picked it up.

The time that I fell in on Taneycomo was saving a rod.  Hitting that 55 degree water on a 95 degree day was a shock to my system!

You might also take a look at the Denali Kovert. A very underrated rod in my opinion.

I have the kovert 6'10" mhvy that is a great sb rod, and works great for sq bills and spooks, great quality for the price
