fishinwrench Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 There have been several really good format ideas brought up, and quite a few clubs have been using them for a couple years with no issues. We have the technology available to do it, it isn't expensive, and IMO it's way less of a hassle than culling and babysitting fish in a livewell all day. The only downside I can fathom would be that during the spawn a fish glued to a bed could possibly be scored more than once.

Only if you think tournament bass fishermen would stoop so low as to cheat. I believe in the strength and honesty of the human spirit and do not think anyone that is a true sportsman would ever do anything like that. Especially if there is a lifetime ban if you are ever caught cheating. magicwormman 1

tjm Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 I was just asking. I have never understood the fish tournaments. If we allow that all tournament participants are honest and beyond cheating, why not just take their word for what they caught and eliminate the need for pictures or weigh in? I think almost anything would be better for the fishery than sorting, culling and live hauling the fish all day. But..? ckjacks 1

I guess one could take several pictures of the fish from different angles or with different background and include them with slightly varying weights or lengths also?

The app used for kayak tournaments has gps tracking and time stamps. Only the tournament director can see these, from what I understand. shark bait 1
fishinwrench Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Practically every boat I see has 2 GoPro's on it nowadays. If there's a question then produce the video.
Ketchup Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 This has been beat to death. Look in the archives. Im 100% pro-tourney. Im also the "yes" crowd for keeping it the way it is. Theres a reason why its this way, and has been for decades. Cheating will and is going to happen no matter what. You cant beat a dishonest person enough to make him honest, but statistics would show you give an honest guy a shot at money and the temptations start. Sad but true. Im sure most are honest fishing tournaments "including carp tourneys" but to weed out the few idiots, is the biggest reason for no change to most clubs. Ketchup Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 If i recall, it was a yak tourney a year or so ago where a guy cut the first 4" or so off the cull board, welded it back together, repainted it. Still got caught, but after causing how many honest guys money, or memories? Royal Blue and MoCarp 2 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
tjm Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Ketchup, Can you explain to me why you are 100% pro-tourney? I'm not against tourney fishing, but why are tourney fishers exempt from state wide regulations? What is the benefit to average Joe of having our fish hauled around and possibly destroyed, with no limits?
