Hi All.   I'm pretty much a spinning rod fellow.  I have been using St. Croix for the most part.  Last trip down I had one delaminate and one break.  What are your recommendations for a good medium or medium lite spinning rod.  Thanks Toby

Less Expensive :  St Croix Eyecon ECS66MLF per Dave Reeves suggestion. Good Ned rod, grub rod, etc

more expensive :  Falcon CS-4-17M S

light, sensitive, throws well, good backbone too

I am cheap. I love my $40 Berkley lightning rod. I have several older ones. They have made some changes so I don't know about the new ones.

Take a look at Fenwick. Mid range priced. Great rod!

I have never had an issue with any St. Croix rod.  They remain my favorite.

Got grandsons two Temple Fork spinning rods.  They like them a lot, and they are both good fishermen.

I have two Lightnin' Rods that still get used now and again.  One is a darn good crappie jig rod.

Before you spend any cash, it's worth a shot to ship those two rods back to St. Croix along with a nice letter and see what happens. I'm not sure of the official warranty policy on them, but most of the rod companies are pretty good about standing behind their products, and you might be surprised what they do for you.

Agree with sending them back. St. Croix has excellent customer service. I've had 1 break and a reel seat come loose on one. I used their shipping program to send them back for $15 and got them both replaced for the price of return shipping, no questions asked. Both times I had a new rod back in my hands in less than 2 weeks.

I have a few St. Croix Prem and love them. However, I have 3 Browning Medallians I picked up 10 years ago at $40 per that are my go to. Probably not the most sensitive rods, but great back bone with a soft tip that I have caught countless good fish on. I have a 7’ H, 6’6” MH and 6’6” MF. I primarily use them for finesse and small soft baits though: grubs, ned, shaky, Keitechs, salt craws, etc. and never more than 8lb line. Heck, I throw 4lb Berk Fluro on the 7’ for my Ned, can toss it a mile and have caught numerous 5lb fish.  My dad bought one of the newer versions of the rod and I must say that it’s not the same so beware. 90% of the fish I caught during my trip last week were on the Brownings and I think primarily because I’m just use to the feel of them. To most guys they might feel like a branch in their hands. 😀
