No fishing within 50 feet of a marina dock, which includes not only their retail sales docks but also their storage docks. There are a gazillion other docks on the lake to fish. Or can some of us only catch marina pets? Rules are rules. And cell phone cameras are good for recording violators. Thats why your your own free bird. I will fish those pet fish every chance i get. They taste better than those dinky dock fish elsewhere, as they get the pizza scraps tossed overboard those houseboats. We seen several boat owners on their slips that day, and not a one said a word. But in our defense, i dont believe out of 1000 5" spoons being tossed in and around, one ever made a clunk. So those old blind buzzards probably never seen, and definitely didnt hear us at that age. That’s the spirit... to heck with the law. Laws are just for the rest of us. 😆
Ketchup
But your interpretation of what that "no fishing within 50 feet" of every dock out there, that is not a legal sign, obviously placed there by a dock owners assoc. to fool guys like you, doesnt hold water with me. Now if it were, as stated, on a marina with fuel, and or, food that would be a tad bit different. But the docks aarchdale asked about is none of those. So no laws broken, therefore your more than welcome to come fish side by side with me anytime. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM. Champ188
As I understand it and has been explained to me by tournament directors, the law covers all docks owned/leased/controlled by the marina, whether there is a gas pump or store on that particular dock or not. That's what the maps show. But no sir, I'm not saying it applies to ANY other docks … dock owners association or whatever. Unless it is a marina-owned/operated dock and is included in the Corps maps, it is open to fishing by you, me and anyone else who wants to get in line. Even the Corps law is worded to carefully say that no one else can legally post "no fishing" signs on a dock. Apologies for any misunderstanding. Longball22
Agree with Champ on this one. I have personally witnessed marina staff try and explain to fishermen that the houseboat docks owned by the marina fall under the Corps regulations regarding recreational use. By the law, even the leaseholders don't have the right to drop a line in the water off of a dock that they are paying to use. Is it loosely enforced? Absolutely? In all honesty, most turn a blind eye. When a few night fishermen came in between the docks on plane last summer, and plowed at max wake around the docks using their electronics to find fish, the policing of this policy was certainly ratcheted up for a few weeks following the incident. aarchdale@coresleep.com
I was just wondering, we fished around them for about 30 minutes and i noticed that sign as we were trolling around and didnt know if there was an actual law or not

Missouri Law prohibits anyone from fishing within 1500 yards of my dock. I have the howitzer that's mounted on our patio dialed in on anything from 1-1,499.99 yards. Can drop that shell in your shirt pocket before you make that skip into my stall and you wouldn't even know what hit you. 96 CHAMP
I know at Campbell point marina there are signs. Self explanatory I believe. There are always those that don’t want to abide by rules but I believe most do, besides, I believe a lot of those fish at marinas get fed, wouldn’t waste my time. I was buying minnows at the Hickory creek marina on Beaver to go crappie fishing several years ago. The guy selling the minnows netted some of the dead ones out of the tank and tossed them into the water right off the dock. 6 lb. bass came right up and slurped them down. Guy said that fish was there every morning waiting. Hickory is a commercial dock, no fishing within 50 feet.

Im fairly good a flipping without hitting anything, and most the tie the fish are in the front of the dock or come out. if someone says somthing i will leave without causing a fuss, but other wise im gonna jack them out of those stalls Some aren't so good at flipping into the slips. A while back I as I started to back out of my slip, I seemed to notice something zoom by my head, thinking it was a bug I just swatted at it. As I was looking backwards as to clear the dock I noticed a beetle spin and line moving backwards. I killed the motor, investigated. Someone had tried to flip that lure between the boat lift and dock slip, totally missed the target, broke off and left it. Apparently the loose line was left near my motor and when I started to back out, the line wrapped under the prop and pulled the lure zipping past my face. Had it connected with my face or eye, there would have been a serious injury. Recently the COE required us to change out our screw in light bulb fixtures on our dock. The duty ranger said that too many of the bulbs are getting broken by fishing lures and they were concerned about cut feet.
