Bushbeater Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 I caught a few tonight, here are my 2 best. Landed about 10, about half were definitely Hybrids, some were Whites and not sure about the bigger one in this pic. Curiously the Whites were larger than the Hybrids. Made 2 nice sacks of fillets. I usually trim out the blood line and sometimes the ribs when preparing to cook them. 96 CHAMP, BilletHead, Johnsfolly and 4 others 7
fishinwrench Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Now we're talkin'! 👍 My freezer is empty because of a lousy Spring run. I need to get out there and try to find some Whites.
Bushbeater Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 As you know, pink out is the time. About a 45 minute window when they go nuts. You gotta be fast if you want a bunch. Now that I have some for the freezer I'm gonna try the big streamers. bfishn, Daryk Campbell Sr and BilletHead 3

At least they are there, which is more than I can say for last fall.

I will be heading down for the week Saturday with hopes to get my string stretched long and often. Mike
fishinwrench Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 I wish I knew how to catch them before they move onto the shallow flats, but so far, for me, that has proven to be about as successful as playing horse shoes blindfolded. Once they put 1/4 to 1/2 mile between themselves and deep water then the odds of me loading the boat increase dramatically.
Bushbeater Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 Pink out is a term, I believe coined by the Wrench, describing the last bit of daylight after the sunset. It seems the Hybrids aren't worth fishing for except during that time. Go out as the sun sets and come in with your lights on. BTW the Largemouth were biting some earlier in the evening, had 3 keepers and some dinks, all off outside corners of docks on cranks. I couldn't get bit on Jigs or plastic baits.
