netboy Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Wife killed a pigmy rattlesnake in the yard this morning. Little bugger was coiled up and rattling like a big guy. Picture before he was hacked into pieces. terryj1024 1

Does anyone here see them regularly that would be willing to point me in their direction? It's been quite a few years since I ran across my last one. (August is typically a bad time to spot them due to the heat. ) How many people here have seen one lately? I realize this probably will not help, but I saw 7 this past summer in the mountains of eastern Kentucky (Daniel Boone National Forest, near Morehead, KY). Found them mostly in rocky, glade-like areas on mountaintops. Wasn't looking specifically for them...was just doing forestry research.

The only time I've found them is when I'm not looking.

If it's the latter, there a bunch on the hilltops around Cave Run Lake. I nearly got bitten on two occasions, but it was worth it. They're pretty cool critters.
Gavin Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 See them in the St Francis area regularly and not looking for them. 34 bridge, shut ins on the St or Big Creek. Saw one on Black River near K bridge, and one on top of Taum Sauk Mountain. Keiththom 1
oneshot Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Go to Lead Mine North of Buffalo Missouri. Go YY to Jug Town Road. This is one area seen many. Go West of Beliar, Missouri on 5HWY. There is a Old Quarry owned by Leonard's about a mile off the highway. Seen Timber Rattlers both places many times. oneshot Keiththom 1
Smallie Seeker Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Saw a Pygmy while turkey hunting Table Rock this spring. Kinda nerve racking knowing I was sitting on the ground in the dark near one.
