Got on Pomme today for the first time in about 13 years. Holy schamoly the lake was busy. Bass boats, fishing boats, pontoons, tri-toons, and some big runabouts. PWCs and tubers everywhere.  Not what I remember it being like even on a Saturday in August. The sheer volume of boats is what got me. Plus, those big boats create way too much chop.  I watched one Cobalt go by about 12 times today in the 3 hours we were sitting in one spot. Just burning gas all day. Not stopping to swim or pull a tuber. Just burning gas in a small area of one lake arm  I guess I am not surprised.  Those 24' runabouts too small for LOZ now and I can remember seeing my first cigarette boat on Stockton about 15 years ago and thinking it's all downhill from here. Shame this tranquill lake has been ruined. Ok rant over. Sorry.

Come up near Kansas City and sit on Smithville for a couple hours.  That will make pomme seem like a retirement home at nap time.

I have a place at Pomme, honestly if and when I fish and it's between Memorial day and Labor day, I'm on the lake at 6 and off by 10...  then I go back out around 5-6 and fish till dark.  Once we get through Labor day you'll have the lake to yourself, can get back in a cove and fish naked if you want.

One of the best things if not the best of being retired is i get to fish during the week. I have a place at Pomme as well and i will go down during the week and have the lake virtually to myself. Same with Stockton. A few more boats on Truman during the week and Table Rock can still get crowded. I come home on fridays and see all the traffic pulling boats going the other way!! Life is good!!

I take an occasional sanity day off from work just to go in the middle week.  It is almost always nice and peaceful.  I am going to retire from the railroad in 3 weeks. I am so looking forward to not ever having to launch on a day that starts with an S. I don't get there often. Stockton is just so much closer. But I do enjoy PDT.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

yeah its getting bad. that is one of the reasons I am getting tired of that lake. that and the crappie are sooo stinking small. can catch a limit of eaters in no time, but gets old after a while of doing it every week for the last couple years. quality fish continue to get fewer and further between. we went to Stockton last weekend, and while the fishing was tougher, was a much better time. Bigger fish and not near the boat traffic. have no idea why pomme has become such a popular spot for boating, but it's too small and just ruins the experience imo.

Being on Lake O really makes a guy appreciate a lake where you can just pull up to the bank and hop out for a bit without being cited for trespassing.

Went out tonight, that was a mistake. Jet Skis, ski boats, pontoons, everywhere, blaring music and doing what they do.

Wheatland parking lot was full with trucks parked along the road at some point during the day. By the time I got there a couple spots had opened up.

I get that they're just having a good time. But it sure makes it hard to dip a jig when you're bobbing in 3' wakes.

Truman will always be the best lake to avoid pleasure boaters.
