They do not have any handguns but a nice try. lol

Has a nice BBQ restaurant in front. It would make a good road trip. That's sounds great but the wife would have to make the trip alone. I currently have an extremely low white blood cell count and the drs have told me a cold/flu etc could be fatal. I have been that way for nearly 4 years and the drs say around 4 or 5 more years is likely. In the meantime I am on what is called reverse isolation. I would consider trying a gun from someone like Dutch, one on one, assuming he does not have an active cold or flu. Going to a place like St Louis would be a big risk for me. If I think plan A right now is a range in Joplin, Plan B is buying from Dutch or someone like that and plan C would be the trip to St Louis. Maybe if I call them first we can minimize my exposure. Keep the ideas coming, you guys are doing great. Thanks

jdmidwest Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 I would suggest a small 38 revolver or something like the Shield 380. Depends on how she wants to carry and conceal or not. https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-380-shield-ez-0 https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-bodyguard-38-integrated-crimson-trace-laser "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. fishinwrench Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 If it's primary purpose is to kill someone with then I'd go as cheap as possible, since if it ever gets used you'll have to hand it over to authorities and may never get it back.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 I have a Smith and Wesson airweight in 38 special +P. Light, no fumbling around for a safety, no hammer to snag on clothes. I believe it’s the most carried off duty pistol used by law enforcement. Wouldn’t bother with a 380.

I second this recommendation Straw Hat. This is what the BilletHead's use for daily carry. Ours are the one with the exposed hammer. Mine has a crimson trace installed. I don't believe we are far from you. Also you are welcome to try one of ours anytime. Just let me know and we will get it done. MOPanfisher Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 The little 38 revolvers are a good choice. I went with a Taurus 605 stainless in .357 simply because I have a lot of .357 brass and not much .38. However you or she would be more than welcome to shoot it. It is heavier than the .38s to carry but not bad. I understand about the artificially lowered immune system been there, still there to a much lesser extent.

As I recall you rent the gun, bought ammo, and rented a shooting lane. You can swap basically any gun you want in the caliber you select to try as many as possible. https://sof-usa.com/rentals/ Looks like its actually in Ozark. Maybe their website is out of date but it says they have 100 plus options. Unfortunately with you health situation though your likely going to be around multiple people so probably not the best situation.

I called them about a week ago and they said they do not have any handguns to test fire. I am definitely going to call back. If that doesn't work out I will probably contact you Billethead. Where are you located (in general).
