I didn't pick up on that in this thread, but I'm not sure that's accurate info. I saw the initial info regarding the managed hunt and I don't remember it stating that it was to be "antlerless only". Pretty sure I would have picked up on that. Maybe not though, since my GAS factor is at about 0.4%
fishinwrench Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Besides.....Who would bother entering a "managed hunt" draw for the chance to shoot a couple Doe's ? Good grief, unless you live in the hood, all ya gotta do is step out on your porch. I'd think that the 3 doe tags were in addition, and not the only thing offered. Am I wrong?
tjm Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Quote Hunt is actually Wednesday and Thursday, for 3 does only. This was on Missouri Whitetails by a guy that said he drew unit five.

As rediculous as it seems to me I guess some guys might be compelled to turn it into sausage, and pay to keep it frozen until they could eat it all.
tjm Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 I've killed three does in one day before and took the whole night to bone and cut, and about three months til it was all eaten.

You eat a whole deer every month ? Deer kabobs Deer gumbo Deer and taters Deer quiche Deer tacos Baked deer roast w/carrots Crock pot deer roast w/apples Deer chili Deer and eggs Deer casarole So, what's for dinner TONITE ? Deer stew and grilled cheese? Yum!!! MOstreamer 1
tjm Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Had several kids to help eat it and a whole deer ain't that much after silver skinning, boning and taking out all the sinew and such, they dress out with less meat according to live weight than any animal I've butchered, and these huckleberry and acorn eaters don't get as big as corn fed. I only serve deer two ways steak and stew, but a few "I don't like deer meat" folks have changed their tune after eating mine.
fishinwrench Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 I only dislike it if it's tougher than a shoe. As long as we can chew it up and swallow it, myself and the 3 kids enjoy it. Sugarbritches, on the other hand..... Picky eater whose favorite meal of all time is Sloppy Joe's, but won't even try a bite if it's made from deer burger. 🙄

A boned out and processed deer does not really net much meat and can be eaten pretty quick. We have put three archery deer in the freezer and I wish we had room for another. Sorry buddy for saying this but Sugarbritches needs a bit of educating on eating venison just like you did about eating goose. I remember you saying something about eating game that has to be "cooked right"? The term should be folks should not be "cooking their game wrong". Here is a prime example. When Mrs. BilletHead and I first married many moons ago when we could afford a steak (cheap cut) hers had to be well and I mean well done. Now she is my biggest critic. Looking over my shoulder saying hey don't overdo it. Shouldn't you take that off? We did deer heart tar tar. Yep raw heart and she had cleaned her plate before I did mine. This is how to not totally ruin venison. Then there is the dirty Cajun rice which includes in the prep duck gizzards, hearts and even the livers. I cannot even taste the offal in the rice bit it does something amazing in the side.
