Mother nature took care of that this year on the Gasconade. She kept the water high and dingy nearly the entire season. I'm not sure if the Meramec was in the same shape or not, but the Gasconade was definitely a bust. I'll be curious to see if the fishing is any better this yea because of it.

Those folks should have paid something for the over limits, but  federal charges for harvesting & eating hatchery raised fish eggs is ridiculous. The one guy selling should get a bigger fine, but not federal charges. That CO is a frigging zealot.

Federal charge is moving any illegal wildlife or parts across the state line. Doesn't matter what it is. Doesn't matter what state line nor who caught them. The anti-conservation author did admit that poaching is down because of the operation.

The only reason I can think of for MDC being all S.W.A.T. about eggs from paddlefish is that it cuts into their side-business.  

The dead paddlefish that line the banks during and immediatly after snagging season aren't the result of mass poaching,  they are the result of their imposed length limit.  Who cares if somebody snatches the eggs from them, unless you are part of a cartel that is selling them yourself?

I challenge the tales of paddlefish carcasses, minus the eggs, being found along roadways.  That's the biggest crock of bull I've ever heard.  If you were just harvesting eggs then you wouldn't leave the lake with the whole fish..... you'd take the eggs and loose the fish before ever going back to the ramp. And if you were smart at all you'd leave them on ice at somebody's dock and go get them later.   

I ain't buying any of this BS.   It's fake news.

As someone who has spend many many years fishing around Warsaw, you would be shocked on how much fish gets poached and sold, tons of catfish sold in kc, paddlefish eggs are getting sold on the black market because it’s Lucrative, personally the amount of overharvesting of fish should get you tossed in a cell with big bubba, and supply of dresses he will make you wear, 

had a few run ins of my own there, fortunately I am a big ol boy and people thought twice about starting chit, that and had other good old boys with me,
