In 2020 7 more states will enact length and bag limits on common carp and 3 of those states will have designated trophy carp waters 😎

Wow. They're nearly elevated to the same status as feral trout. Can't wait to hit my local blue ribbon ditch for some trophy fishing.😬

To many the thought of a trophy water for carp is a mental image of a sewers, yet polluted waters get Calle carp water because the hardiest fish like common carp can live there when other fish can’t, one reason they where imported and stocked by the feds on purpose over 140 Years ago, the best big carp waters in the USA also produce huge bass, lake fork Texas, Lady bird in Austin, Dalehollow in TN,  and the CT river in Connecticut. These are all waters where 20 plus pound carp are common and fish to 50 are caught with regularity

10s of billions are spent world wide in the chasing of common carp as a sport fish in the EU alone and has been growing here over the last 25 years. On a nutshell common carp fishing is big business and it was only a matter of time here.

I have many threads debating to ad nausium on all issues that even touch the common carp question

just google it on this forum and you can see all the threads on the subject complete with links videos and reference material

Enjoy! As a note the push on the use of carp in concrete is the Asian carp not commons

Use to have Lakes where people paid to fish for Common Carp. I know of two in Missouri, use to go to one all the time.

My sarcasm is primarily because I want to catch fish in their native habitat. If it's not native, it's feral. I enjoy trout fishing here in Missouri, but they're not native and I so don't hold my interest as much as catching what was here when before the white man arrived. When I go to the Rockies, I want to catch cutthroat. When I go to Appalachia, I want to catch Brookies. Northern Pike in Canada, etc.

That said, I have no fire in my belly to travel to Asia to catch carp. But they are on my bucket list to catch on the fly locally this year. Just for the ugly fun of it.

I completely understand many do not, striped bass, trout, hybrids Muskie are all non natives people love to catch, brown trout, LM bass  are on the worlds most invasive list, yet an orchid in a wheat field is a weed to the farmer,,, unfortunately Us settlers changed things many nativists want to tear out all the dams, lose some good fishing here in the Ozarks if they get their way

Properly prepared or Fixed right.  There someone had to say it.

Right!

So if you cook up some buffalo and it isn't delicious... it's all YOUR FAULT for being a lousy cook.

By that mentality, a person who "knows how to cook" doesn't need fresh, good quality meat .....they can make ANYTHING taste delicious.  Turn a pile of buzzard puke into the best bowl of chili you've ever had !
