Crappie ?

we got into them saturday, mustve been around the same spot as Eaton.  About ran the dang boat aground more times than we could count but we got our limits, spider rig with the swivels at the surface.  water temp was right at 60

We fished all day around cc and had one keeper crappie by 5:30. Started trolling across the tops of the brush on the big flat headed up into Turnback creek and started hauling them in. When the crappie stopped hitting then the big sow whites moved in. Also had one bonus Walleye!

This was this past Sunday. Took me awhile to remember how to post here. Lol

Spent all afternoon chasing crappie and only had two in the boat by 7 PM. Between 7 and 8 o’clock we boated 24 more nice ones on jigs. Seems that last hour of light they come in real shallow, those last 24 fish came out of 3 foot of water or less.  I have to admit it was the first time cleaning crappie by the trucks headlights over at Mutton Creek.   Water today was between 57 and 63.  Tight Lines!

When I used to fish around Columbia I would get out in the evening to bank fish for crappie. As soon as the sun went below the tree tops and the wind laid down it was usually game on. Typically I would be limited on how many fish I could catch by the time it took to reel them in and stringer or release the next one. Congrats on catching a bunch!

I have been working hard on an addition to the cabin on the lake for the last month.  From my experience for the last month after work, late evening is the only time I can catch any numbers of fish, so my contractor and I have been hitting the water about 6 in the eve until 8 keeping just enough for a good meal. I can't remember ever seeing the water temp jump so fast. A week ago we were fishing 54 degree water and within 4 days temps jumped to 64 in some places. The Lunes, water turkeys, and pelicans are congregated big time in open water around Ruark Bridge
