if it was anyone at Bass Pro that told you, Champ is gonna call BS (some personal vendetta against BPS) but if it was someone who is not affiliated with BPS you are golden!

some of those bass were probably roamers so they are going to leave wherever they were released , prob already a mile or more away from where they were dumped

Obviously, it can't be argued that there isn't a lot of tournaments on this lake. However, at least those fish stand a very good chance of surviving. Not so for these fish. I took the picture at the end of the dock at Cow Creek yesterday and yes, they are (were) all bass. Maybe ya got a bigger or at least, another significant problem that no one is talking about in their haste to "villianize" the derbies.

I have already seen my fair share of bass cleaned on Bull Shoals this year as well. I know, it’s legal, and the conservation department sets a limit, but golly gee I wish folks would wait a couple weeks for the spawn to happen before they keep their limits of fish.

What kind of permit does a person, not employed by any Fish&Game commission, need to haul 600 bass around, across land or whatever?   Who issues those permits, and what does the permit co$t ?

Does the permit allow you to do it whenever/wherever/all year long, or is it only for a specific date?

Is the permit good for hauling any specie of regulated wildlife or does it only apply to Bass after a bass tournament ?

In over 35 years of bass fishing I have never seen a release boat travel more than 5-6 miles to release the fish (yeah I've followed them).  More often it has been only 2-3 miles.  Long all day pontoon boat rides are definitely not the norm.

I can only speak for last years BBT release toon but suspect this year was similar to last year (and even years beyond that). Last year we stuck around weigh in after the tournament ended on Sunday afternoon. The release pontoon behind the stage trailered away from Long Creek Marina as checks were handed out and the tournament was wrapping up. On the way back to Old 86 Park to put the boat on the trailer the release toon was chugging along heading back towards Long Creek after having launched at 86. So it must have dumped the day's fish at some point between those two locations on the lake. That's all I got.

I'm more interested in the end mortality rate than where the fish are released.

Unfortunately that is impossible to collect data on. Unless you put a tracking device on every single fish and keep tabs on them for about a week or so. Or put some type of heart sensor monitor on them to see if they are still alive or have kicked the bucket.
