Love the many local breweries. How do you like the Kolsch, and do you have a favorite brewery?

Paffgen is my favorite so far.  Best beer for me and best food so far a well.

The Gilden was the nicest inside with a huge cellar dating back to the 1700's I think. Their Kolsch is ok, but it's sweeter than the others.  Fruh was pretty good as well.

For those not familiar there is basically like 50 or 60 different Kolsch breweries that all brew their beer just a little bit differently.  There's like 15 breweries just in this one town square all next to each other so you basically hop from one to the next.

Kolsch is right up my alley. Closest American beer I'd compare it to would be yuengling light.

Boulevard makes a very good Kolsch style. I like it a lot.

Hop—you made a funny 😄

Seriously, that’s a lot of breweries!! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Germany is on the bucket list for me. The ness clan originated in the Rhine Westphalia region where you are.

Haha,

Although I'm not sure when I'll be back here for a while, the area is very nice and beautiful. If I ever do make it back to Europe I'd likely take the train here just for the beer :)

There's a chocolate museum and the country's oldest mustard mill we are going to try and check out.  Hope you can make it one day Ness.

Made it back home yesterday.  Feels great to be back in the US.  Didn't really have time to try and go north to fish... We ended up cramming more work into Friday and had to leave Saturday at 7 to make our flight home :(

i will say the people were all super friendly.  Cologne is a beautiful city.  The food exceeded my expectations and I ended up with 10 different kolsch breweries!

glad I'm home though... Got to get back into fishing gear now lol.

Very cool, my cousin used to work for degussa (Evonik Corporation) near Mobile and made a few trips to Germany on the company’s dime
