I used to use 15 and my passenger consistantly still outfished me from the back of the boat with 20. I dont think it matters my opinion exactly, and I use Big Game exclusively. FC has just never done it for me, and I have fished with enough other people who use FC that I am convinced there is no advantage what so ever. In fact, the hassles of using FC (knot tying, breakage, cost to respool) justifies using plain old mono much easier. In my opinion, FC is one of the best salesman pitches the fishing industry has ever seen. But if you like FC, by all means use it. Heck, one of the best fishermen on this board has stated line size/color doesn't make a difference other than to effect fall rate of the bait,, and Don Carrow, the original founder of Crock O Gator Baits used to always use bright green mono all the time, even Bull Shoals, so he could see the line better. Ham Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 If Big Game works for you, rock on! Big Game is totally fine for Spinner Baits and Lopless crankbaits. Maybe top water baits. BUT in my opinion, way too much memory in cold weather and way too much stretch for deeper water jigging. I proved it to myself Fishing using same outfits with FC (Seaguar InVisX) on one and a good copoly (Silver Thread) on the other. That I could feel bites much better on FC. I did not want it to be better because of the cost, but it just is. Quillback, Royal Blue, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. 5bites Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 I’m with Ham. Feel and abrasion resistance is the deal for me with flouro. The visibility is a bonus if it’s true. Ham, Royal Blue and Quillback 3
STLbassbuster Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I use 12-15lb Seaguar Abrazx in almost all of the lakes I fish. I buy the 1,000 yard spools to save money. If I am at a stained water lake and fishing shallow I am going with 40-50 lb braid. Also make sure to check/feel you line and retie when needed. Quillback 1
