More trout fishermen nationwide, maybe, but not more trout fishermen that fish the Meramec.   I'd argue that there are less, and the ones that do and kill them are way WAY less.

More predators?   A few more eagles maybe.....but eagles exist everywhere that trout live, yet trout still flourish in the company of eagles/otters/bears/ect.

The weather is volatile everywhere, even in places where trout populations are excellent.  So that's not a reason, it's just another lame excuse IMO.

Let's just go ahead and admit it.....The reason is poor management.   The "biologists" are supposedly smarter, their education and equipment is supposedly far superior.....yet they flat out SUCK at their job.   Chain smoking, half drunk, high school dropouts did a far better job with far less cool $#!t to work with.  And they did it for minimum wage.

It's true!

18” or so 12 years ago

I caught a brown 27" 7lbs back in '92.  Fished it a ton since then and haven't hit another one over 20".

It's been four or five years since we tried it.  Last time down there we worked hard for two over 18".

So the best thing to do is talk with Mark at Adventure Outdoors, he guides on that stretch. He would know more than any biologist.

I spoke with Mark at adventure outdoors and he said they have approximately 20 or more electronic chips attached to brown trout near his building… They have antennas on top of his roof at his canoe rental. He said that the reason they are doing it is because they don’t feel the brown trout have very good habitat but the rainbows seem to be thriving and they want to understand why.

It's gets too personal and it brings politics into this. We don't need either and you know that.

I still don't think it that's bad.  But I think the fishing pressure is way higher today than back in the 80's.  We used to fish down there and rarely see anyone and if we did they came out of the park a few hundred yards and that's about it.  Maybe the fishing pressure currently is about the same but I think it's due to the pressure previously that led the demise of the fishery.

Well there you have it.  The browns don't have good habitat.  What I've been saying, among other factors:  eagles, otters, pressure, poaching.

And of course the rainbows are thriving . . . every time the spring branch gets a minor flood, which is pretty often . . . quite a few rainbows get washed out of the park.  And from Springrise too.   Thriving is probably too strong of a word though.  Wash-outs.

Hell yeah i have a temper, but c'mon, if the stuff that smalliebigs/wrench/and various others posts doesn't cross lines, that doesn't either.  Those are the most vulgar people on here by far.  Also, if i post a report, don't turn it into an MDC bashing thread, or I will turn it into a redneck bashing thread, which is both easy and fun.

How come wrench can constantly make personal insults about scientists, but i cant make personal insults about outboard mechanics?  He is clearly out of his lane.  I posted a fishing report, and you ladies start crying about the MDC.  Start your own thread for that.  OAF is obviously a very "clicky" forum.  If you dont have anything constructive to add, please to not post on my reports.  Start your own.

Oh good luck getting results trying to tell us what we can or cannot post in *your* threads. :D

You sure spout lots of nonsense regarding crap you clearly know nothing about.  You also speak with syntax about as bad as Trump, which kills any credibility you think you may have.  You better just stick with outboard motors.

He bashed 'scientists'. Also, his syntax is just fine, and it's 'cliquey' :D

You can post all you want, but good luck in not getting me to call you out for being the morons you are.  If you post bullsh$t, expect to be called out on it.  It sure seems like those who criticize really have problems being criticized.

Yes, he bashed scientists, I bashed mechanics.

All threads are subject to highjacking

All Internet forums are ‘cliquey’
