Caught an 11 lb. hybrid today in one of the Bella Vista lakes.  Caught 20 total, it was crazy, never have caught them like this.  They were on a windy bank in 2-4 FOW.  11 lber was a personal best.  Caught an 8 and several in the 5-6 lb. range.  3.3 Keitechs on 1/4 oz heads, spinning tackle.  They are strong fish.

Hardest fighting fresh water fish there is.  NICE!!!

I miscounted earlier. I  am a little under 600 fish for the year. I’ve caught 39 species so far. 7 lifers. Covid - 19 is going to make 75 species really, really hard and 10 states impossible. A stupid virus and unnecessary Govt restrictions are really hampering my fishing.

I will have caught my 1000 th fish out of Waldo before the end of June.i’m 23 trips in and sitting at 828. I’ll do it in less than 30 trips. I’d guess in 4 or 5 trips more trips

I had a buddy that had a clicker when we played golf. It was so entertaining to watch him make several clicks in the sand trap.

I MIGHT stop clicking when I have gotten to 50K since I moved North. But maybe not.

i know that some guys like @laker67 and @Ham are working on their fishing goals. Hopefully everyone else is getting a chance to fish.

Near the end of March I thought that I would revisit my 2020 goals. I had a bad cold that put me out of commission for close to three weeks in Jan/Feb, but I have been able to bounce back and catch some fish lately :D!

I am questioning whether we would be able to make it out to the White/Norfork area in Mar/Apr due to COVID-19. We did do a charter in SC that was unexpected.

Caught four new species so far in 2020, which puts me at 25% of accomplishing that goal.

Black Drum from South Carolina - checks off catching a black drum and is included as a new fish for the lifelist.

American (white) shad in North Carolina - also checks off catching this shad and is included as a new fish.

Caught a flier sunfish this last weekend which covers one new sunfish as well as a new lifelist fish.

Good luck to all of you guys!

Now that 2020 is half over time to revisit again goals for 2020. Even with COVID-19 slowing things down, I got back on track somewhat. Willing to run the gauntlet of COVID across the country has helped my goals.

Catch a fish in 1 new state -

I have fished in Maryland, Delaware (pre- post-COVID outbreak (PRC and PSTC)), North Carolina (PC), South Carolina (PC), Missouri (PSTC), Kansas (PSTC), and Nebraska (PSTC) but it was only NE that was a new state. I only had a few hours to fish and waited nearly an hours for a monsoon to pass before fishing. I landed four green sunfish from a small lake and lost a couple of micros on that trip. Still got State #29 in the books.

American Shad - Accomplished - caught in Tar River NC

Northern Kingfish or Black Drum - Caught Black Drum in SC

Three new sunfish sp. - Caught flier sunfish in MD; Orangespotted sunfish in KS

Two shark species including dogfish sp.

  - Lake Erie - May  - COVID Cancelled
  - Chincoteague Island July-Sept

Hope that others are getting along towards whatever goals that you might have had for 2020.

I’m a numbers guy, but I expect 2020 to be more about new experiences. I have a trip lined up for Mexico, hoping for a New England trip, hoping for Carp on the fly in Michigan, trying for a Sandhills Nebraska Trip, and still trying to line up a Venice bass fishing trip.

My man Marty is making me want to wave the fairy wand more.

I intend to fish the Spring River in OK.

I’m hoping for a follow up Redear trip with Quillback.

I’d like to get Waldo on the stretch of the White above Eureka Springs.

Waldo also needs to ply the waters of the Strawberry River.

I’m going to try for 10 states fished this year.

And let’s try for 10 Benjamin’s and 20 Fifty Burgers

so let’s say modest numbers like 3000 total fish

a Great Big number of fish species caught like say 75 total species. I want 13 lifers in that mix.

Including an American Eel which I failed to do in 2019.

pics or it didn’t happen right.

What are you hoping for in 2020?

New England trip - Got the Rona

Michigan trip - Got the rona

Spring River in OK - Got the Rona

I made the Redear trip with Quillback. Caught a Toad.

I am not likely to get to 10 States this year. TX, LA, AR, MO so far. I am supposed to add Florida, Kansas, and Nebraska.

maybe OK maybe IL maybe KY or TN

I'll have to double check on trip totals. Lots of 50 Burgers, but not many (any? ) Benjamins so far.

Sitting at 1498 fish to hand

45 species so far. 55 species is going to happen. We will see beyond that. 7 lifers so far. The Florida trip should blow that goal out of the water and push me along on total species number too.

Still planning on hitting The Ditch. Still planning on fishing Strawberry River again.

I planned on going up North with JoeD and Mark CNR for some Minnesota smallmouth fishing, Then my boat got totaled By a guy running thru the fence at the storage lot. Hopefully I’ll have a different boat soon. They we can still go to Minnesota.

I have an honorable mention; not real a goal per se. I want to get a photo of all of the fish species that I have caught. After a couple of tries that failed mainly due to moving to MD and flooding, I pulled off a hail Mary and caught and photographed an Ozark bass. I used information provided to me from fellow OAF folks and picked a likely spot on Finley creek to give it another try. I was fishing a John Deere microjig about 14 inches under a float. I caught two green sunfish before getting an Ozark to bite and be photographed.

Ozark Bass (2) - Finley Crk - 07Jul20.jpg

Now if I can catch a Roanoke bass. May have to be a 2021 goal .
