Supposedly the cure (a combination of 2 antibiotics) awaits approval.

The 30 people in France was over a week ago.  Newest test was 80 people and all survived and all got off ventilators quickly.  They had a whole story on Tucker Carlson last night.  It's worked every where they've tried it.  Also an old drug that reduces the inflammation in the lungs so people didn't need a ventilator.  Both are starting trials this week.

I am seeing that but the article N9BOW posted says this:

Treatment

Worldwide 86% of covid-19 patients that go on a ventilator die. Seattle reporting 70%. Our hospital has had 5 deaths and one patient who was extubated. Extubation happens on day 10 per the Chinese and day 11 per Seattle.

Plaquenil (hydroxy-chloroquine) which has weak ACE2 blockade doesn’t appear to be a savior of any kind in our patient population. Theoretically, it may have some prophylactic properties but so far it is difficult to see the benefit to our hospitalized patients, but we are using it and the studies will tell.

With Plaquenil’s potential QT prolongation and liver toxic effects (both particularly problematic in covid 19 patients), I am not longer selectively prescribing this medication as I stated on a previous post.

We are also using Azithromycin.

Looks like they are using it too with not good results at least their not bragging about it saving every patient. Lot's of misguided information out there, seems to be.

Agreed. its tough to weed out the hype from fact. As this testing goes on we will know what does and does not work.

I Will Suggest this... From everything I have seen and read you dont want this virus at all but it sounds like were all going to get it at some point.

Wear a MASK if you have it!....make one if you dont (I provided a template in the thread)

The key in my understanding is to get as small a viral load as possible so your body has time to mount a defense... The folks that are getting infected with a large viral dose (Not social distancing, walking though a cough/sneeze cloud, enclosed spaces with someone infected) are when the outcomes are not so good and can result in a rapid escalation and poor outcome. Its the cytokine storm - your body mounting an aggressive defense against the virus that causes inflammation in the lungs and results in death for a lot of those that require ventilators.

The mask is your best option to limit the viral load - That and be smart. maintain social distance.
April is going to be painful for lots of folks. I've said and will continue to say my prayers for all who are affected by this and those trying to help.

My in-laws, some of the nicest people you would ever meet and who are both in their 80's began getting really sick about 9 days ago.  We kept our distance, but watched them steadily get more and more weak.  Very early on, their doctor prescribed a z-pack (azithromycin).  While that didn't help their condition, it may have saved them from the respiratory havoc that makes this virus so deadly.  They took a ride in the ambulance together on Saturday, were given the test, took x-rays, and put on an IV briefly.  Not having any breathing issues so they were immediately sent home.  Their tests results both came back positive a couple days ago.  Not eating or drinking much and sleeping all day, extremely fatigued and barely able to care for themselves.  We are checking in with them at a distance as best we can.  Totally helpless feeling and very very worried.

Hard to imagine having to deal with that.  Sorry.

I just had a terrible chill.  Big strikes at Amazon and Whole Foods over worker safety.  Our stores here are almost back to normal with a few exceptions, i.e. paper goods, wipes and hand soap.  I'm now wondering how long that will last.

Chill part II.  MCRD Parris Island is suspending new recruits - and appears to also be in real trouble.
