Grew Swiss chard this year for the first time in several years. Couldn’t get anybody to eat it before and I quit doing it. But really enjoying it this year. It’s pretty bomb proof, produces most of the summer And very prolific. Keeps well in the fridge. Glad I added it back in.

@BilletHead ever do this? Might scratch that itch for greens in the off season. More deets to come in the ‘What’s Cooking’ thread.

No I haven't but would like to. Is seed available still? Plant anytime or fall crop?

Cant remember the taste!

Does it have a bitter finish?

I'd use this for my lunch wraps!

I have always started it in the spring. Looked in two books and neither said anything about planting now or in the fall. But I kinda feel like you could.  https://www.burpee.com/gardenadvicecenter/vegetables/swiss-chard/all-about-swiss-chard/article10025.html

Not bitter but it’s got its own flavor. Similar to spinach. Flavor is getting stronger as the season progresses. Think I need to be more diligent about getting them off early.

We like Swiss chard. I like the stems as well ss the leaves. Knowing if it were up to my wife and daughter we would be growing the rainbow chard variety🙄

I like the stems too. Sauté them a few minutes with the onion.

You have inspired me enough that I am going to expand my container grow operation, assuming my wife doesn't cat me before I get it done.  Double mineral tubs, with water in bottom and maybe half full of dirt and mulch.  Gonna make at least a couple of them canteloupes, as that is what I am really gonna miss.

Nice find.

Can you see the ones hidden in the other picture down low to the ground? In the picture that doesn’t show any visible mushrooms it’s the dead tree for this to the back, zoom in on the weeds
