oneshot 1 Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Well guess things got out of control at Lindenlure. In the Summer of 1970 had two people shoot around me while I was swimming there making it clear it was Private Property. Yes I respect this and didn't swim there again. It don't matter where you are if you have a small area that people are using before long they will destroy it. There use to be a place on Lamine River. Grassy area, Cabin. The owner didn't mind if you camped there just don't tear it up. Well before long the Cabin was burnt, 4 Wheelers and 4WD Pickups tore the Grass up and River bank. I don't know what the owner thought but I know I wouldn't be happy. oneshot
Flysmallie Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 It was really turning bad down there. Too many people doing too many bad things. Been going down there since 1986. Pisses me off that the idiots have ruined another great access around Springfield,

Pisses me off that the idiots have ruined another great access around Springfield, I've said this before, but what really pisses me off is that it would be easy to put a stop to this. Just have the county deputies show up every weekend night for a few weeks and arrest everybody they find that's even close to doing something wrong, and make it known that they'll keep doing it as long as there's a problem. The word would get out pretty quickly that it's no longer a place to party. Dang it, that is part of their jobs. Just a bunch of arrests for underage drinking would be enough. I get sick and tired of losing accesses because law enforcement won't do their jobs. It's like if people were constantly shoplifting at the local Walmart, and instead of having a police presence for a while and arresting everybody they caught, they just closed the Walmart. Well I’m this particular spot there was always law enforcement around. Last few times I was there they would be there too. I even had one stop me and my youngest daughter from going further down river because of what was going on. He was just waiting on backup. Not much use going down there to write tickets for underage drinking when it was 100% older people causing the issues. Law enforcement did put a lot of pressure on it at times and that did run off most of the kids but the adults took over and made it way worse. But it was a private road on private land and the landowners just got sick of the BS and trash everywhere. Gavin and snagged in outlet 3 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Some public accesses can be pretty sketchy at 4:30 am sometimes. Much better rolling in with a buddy along.
Flysmallie Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 It’s been around 15 years or so but I spent several consecutive weekends down there chasing one fish. I had located a monster smallmouth and just kept going back trying to get it to take my offering. It would follow, chase, or take a swipe at times but I never got a solid hookup. I’d usually get there at sunrise and leave around 9am when people started showing up. So one morning I get there and I’m working that fish and there isn’t another person around. No cars. No people. Just a beautiful morning. So I’m standing in the same spot on this big gravel bar just casting away. All of a sudden that quiet tranquil morning is destroyed by the sound of a shotgun pumping one in the chamber. And it was close. I turn around and there was a guy, with a shotgun, about 20 feet behind me. I asked him what the F he thought he was doing and he told me his kid has lost his shoes down there the day before and he came down to look for them. I chewed his butt pretty good for being a douchebag. In hindsight that probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do since he was the one holding the gun but what do you expect when you sneak up on someone and do that?? He apologized and disappeared back into the brush but I gave up chasing that particular fish that day. It’s been a pretty screwed up place ever since.
MOPanfisher Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Honestly that landowner held out longer than I would have. I HATE litter bugs and trashers. If you know or can find the land owner don't be afraid to go introduce yourself and meet him, might get permission, don't cost much to try. Daryk Campbell Sr and Flysmallie 2
slothman Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I took my wife there when we were still dating many years ago and thought her how to fish. She caught her first fish on the Finley just below Lindenlure. Even then, it was beginning to get pretty rowdy. It evolved for the worse as years have come and gone. Druggies leaving not just trash, but dirty needles laying around everywhere. It really sucks that it is closed, but I don’t blame them. The really sucky part is the reputation the locals have for NOT granting permission to access. The rock climbing community would love to get access to the Bluffs along there, but it is virtually impossible to get permission to access any of that private land.

Flysmallie Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I’m so happy that it will be open again but I have zero faith that a large majority of people will be better stewards of the access this time. trythisonemv 1
