rps Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 My wife has become the central organizing person for a group of people making masks into which effective filters may be inserted. Her group is making masks for the retirement community staff in which we live as well as for one of the major hospitals here in Tulsa. Side note, somewhat political, the hospital has yet to receive masks sufficient to meet their need, and relies upon volunteers to make masks into which they can insert filters. At the end of the day they wash and bleach the masks to put in another filter. She has made us our own masks, without the filter. What do you think? Daryk Campbell Sr, nomolites, ness and 3 others 6

Tell them all well done. I would wear one if they were available. Just seen a deal where the HVAC filter stuff works by wrapping it on the standard cloth filter. Going to town for some things you just have to do. I am beginning to cringe and get kind of anxious when I do. Also spraying masks with a ten percent bleach solution let dry and reuse. Quillback Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Nice mask Randy, and good on the folks that are making them. If don't have sewing skills, there are tons of UV Buffs out there still (kind of surprises me there hasn't been a run on them), made out of stretchy material and in a pinch you could probably use one to hold a filter. BilletHead Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Do you all find yourself holding your breath walking by people? Hey I do. Only wish I could hold it as I go into the store and exhale when I get to me truck in parking lot! 🤪 Daryk Campbell Sr, snagged in outlet 3 and nomolites 3 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Quillback Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Well I am eyeballing people a little more closely in the store and I will wait for someone to get out of the way if they are front of something I want, basically I avoid getting close to anyone. I also keep my trips to the store at a minimum. Johnsfolly, snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 3

Another thing I do is get a plastic bag from the produce department and put it on the hand I use to pick stuff. I use it on the self checkout and throw it away in the can outside the store. Good idea on the plastic bag! BilletHead 1

Quillback Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Just got back from my weekly trip to Wally World. They've made some changes - you can only use one entrance, there's a sort of barricaded pathway you take to the door, and every 6 feet there's a sign telling you to maintain 6 foot distance. They had a gal passing out shopping carts one at a time, she was wiping them down before giving it to the first person in line, and there wasn't really a line, store was about normal as far as the number of people in there at 0930 on a weekday. The store was fairly well stocked, fresh meat and hamburger available. However still no TP or hand sanitizer.
ness Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 I'm glad to see the whole mask thing is being reconsidered. It just makes sense -- they keep some things out of your mouth and nose, including your hands/fingers. Not sure why they were so adamant about not using them, other than they didn't want to deplete the supplies for medical personnel. When this this first hit in China I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some N95s in the house so I ordered some (box of 10) on Amazon. Came from some hardware store in TX. I wear one when I go to physical therapy for my new knee -- and they're wearing masks there too. But, when I get home I strip, throw the clothes in the washer and take a shower. And that's on top of all the other steps I take getting out of the place. And the mask gets sprayed down so I can reuse it. BilletHead 1 John
