Here's a wild idea how about yall that have problems with this continue to not fish tournennts and go out and have fun. Fishing tournaments are our idea of fun. They haven't pulled the regattas for this area and they are still perfectly legal. The most glaring part about this to me is yall are so worried about people fishing tournennts but are perfectly happy letting the government tell you what to do. I work at a grocery store and there are 10x more people around eachother in there as there is at a fishing tournennt of any size right now. Let people enjoy the lake anyway they choose. Also when you are taking about the fish being relocated yall dont consider that when you take home 15 crappie everytime you go to the lake in the spring. With today's technology and with livescope I can tell you there are plenty of fish in the lake from one end to the other. Dont let this government hoax fill your brains with negativity spend more time on the lake enjoying it how ever you like to do it.

I won’t argue details here so I’ll add. Overflowing parking lots with guys not practicing social distancing is a problem none of us want a govt reaction to. SD in obvious spacing and guys clearly not from the same household because they drove separately.... saw both at Stockton Saturday.

I love the competition of tournaments.  No way can I advocate to allow them if it risks lake access. Michigan banned the use of powered boats because of this scenario.

the events being held are truly pocket change. Certainly not a financial win. Find a way to shut down the groups in the parking lot and let’s look at it.

Govt telling me what to do sucks. It’s also subject to penalties... stopping the spread of this is what we need to do so we can get back to what we enjoy doing. It’s about helping everybody. not appease govt.  Govt is involved because we won’t without their influence. Your post and the “regatta “ statement supports that....

You all do what makes you happy but if they keep having tournaments me and many others will continue to support them. They cant close the lake down there are many places to put in that are not actual ramps. I will not quit fishing or tournament fishing if the lake gets closed. And to the comment of moving the bass around would you rather me take my 5 home every tournament and eat them? They reproduce in those areas so there are more to replenish the catch weigh and release is never going to be an option for local tournennts to much money cheating and liability if someone messes up the weights.

Excellent post.  Exactly what I was talking about.  It's about protecting everyone and if you don't get that someone will have to help you get it.

A wise old man once told me " Learn to discipline yourself, so someone else doesn't have to."  I think it applies here also.

Absolutely 👍

Because once you have 12 in the freezer the rest will get released immediately (unless you're an outlaw).  Nobody wants to eat bass fillets 3 times per week.

All I'm crying for is a change to the scoring format, dude.   Seriously, do you not think it's best to release them back to their familiar area?   You don't think it hurts anything for hundreds of guys to haul every keeper bass they catch 10-40 miles away and dump them all in the same few areas where the fish are totally lost?     Over and over and over again, nearly every day, all year long, for years?

How would you feel if your local chamber of commerce started hosting county-wide C&R copperhead tournaments 3 times per week and held the weigh-ins across the street from your house ?  You'd be ok with that?

That is funny...  And when he complains and they shut it down we will just keep doing it anyway because we want to even though it makes zero sense. :)

Right!     All copperheads bigger than 15"  get relocated to Topwalkers neighborhood.   70 times per month.

Happy yard mowing! 😅

Yessir, if every one was forced to eat what they catch there would be a lot fewer people out there. One day the  animal rights folks will shut down all recreational fishing because of C&R, and transporting before release will play a major part in that. But that's OK, I'll be done fishing by then.

Yeah that makes scence that if I ate the bass i would stop after my 2 day daily limit like crappie fisherman do right ? They don't still have 400 fillets in there freezer from last year ? Give me a break and as far as the copperheads go yall go for it I already have plenty around my house 🤣🤣🤣. Guess were both beating our heads off a wall here because a lot of us aren't going to what a few select group of people want done . Guys aren't hauling every keeper back to the weigh in just 5 and if this is such a big deal like you think it is why isnt every tournament won in old state park or new st park ? There not the whole lake has a good population of fish. Sorry a few people on here dont like the way tournennts are but we do. Yall keep going for fun nothing wrong with that but I'm going to keep doing what I enjoy also

Practically every keeper goes in a livewell (for a period of time) and gets relocated.   The reason all tournaments aren't won at release sites are because the fish are completely lost and don't know where the available cover is, so they just swim out in the middle of nowhere and suspend.  They are impossible to pattern when they are forced into being palegic.

What you're likely to see very soon is guys using their high tech sonar to find those schools of 4-6 pounders suspended out in the middle of nowhere near release sites, and snagging them video game style.

Regardless of what you like to do, constantly relocating all the keeper sized fish to one or two areas of the lake is not good fisheries management.
