Went out Thursday about 8 am and fished until 2 pm. Started slow with about 5 fish in 3 hours on a shaky head fishing chunk rock coves. Decided to move to gravel banks , and I was about to throw a jig but I picked up my Tokyo rig with a Rage Craw and it was on, from 11:30 to  2 pm ( had to go by 2 for a appointment by 3 ) .I caught 24  on that Tokyo rig with 11 keepers with 4 pushing 5 lbs. SM,KY,LM. It was my buddy’s turn to take his boat and I forgot to bring extra Tokyo rigs, so I  had that one. He fished the Rage on a Texas rig and had a few bites. They could see the bait so much better on that Tokyo rig. It is also pretty snag free fishing it like a hard head. The bass that I caught had spawned out and the tails where healing. I hated to leave them biting. It was a very lite bite so you had to really pay attention. Can’t wait to get back out again, if it ever stops raining!!

Might be cheaper to send Vernon back to Kansas!

Vernon IS back in Kansas!

Whatever y'all got goin' on down there now you be bringin' on yourselves!

Now I DID leave a whole bunch of extra water behind but that's just part of what I do......

And as for the Goretex, that stuff is WAY too expensive to be taking outside in bad weather and gettin' all wet.

In your opinion, what is it about the Tokyo rig that worked so well? Just the fact that’s it’s off the bottom and moving?

Yes it moves off the bottom a few inches vs. a Texas rig witch was crawling on the bottom. They could see the bait so much better! That day it made the difference. I was very surprised how snag free it was, when I did get hung up it came off very easy. And the baits that you can fish on the Tokyo rig is endless!  The bite that day was very lite , just a little heavy feeling. I can see this rig really  shines  in the summer when they get a bit deeper. And how easy and fast to change weights!
