$100 with a maximum 18 foot length. I think it depends on the type of fishing you do. If you throw crank baits or troll crankbaits all the time that run in 15 feet of water or less, then, over time, the pole pays for itself in 20 or 22 snags. No retriever is 100% successful and a finite number of snags float to the top when you break them off.

On the other hand, poles like that are a PIA and probably are not worth the time to deploy.

Pay your money and take your choice.

I've got a DotLine Telescoping lure retriever that has paid for itself many times over. Not only do I get my lures back, but I get lots of other people's baits out of trees with it. Pulled a Lucky Craft Pointer 100, 100DD, and a Megabass Vision 110 Magnum out of trees one spring day on the Rock a few years ago, paid for right there.

its hard to beat the good ole hound dog, The money pole never worked very good for me, if they are very deep you almost need two people to work it.  Tried the Daiwa retriever and it sucks, the reel it came with is nice so i have my hound dog on it now.  i lost count this year at 7 a-rigs and 6 megabasses.  So it definitely doesn't owe me anything

I haven't used them all. But I use the Hound dog as well. And as far as as "bang for the buck" . I would say the Hound dog is good. It's cheap and works well.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

I drilled out and added a heavy wire ring I could tie 50’ of good trot line cord to on mine.  I troll with lead core often below 30’ and this works well for me.

I have been making a lure retrieval system for twenty years that make lure retrieval simple and tangle free.  I recommend the  Hound Dog lure retriever and  we are actually giving one away free right now if you purchase an Auto-Trieve ($39.95).  The Auto-Trieve is an automatic reel that winds the string for you.  It's made in the USA (actually Missouri) and is 100% guaranteed.

Check it out at : www.luresaver.net   Give me a holler if you have any questions
