oneshot 1 Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 We like Elderberry Pies and such. Is growing a patch justified? oneshot
fishinwrench Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 It grows like wildfire around here. I don't care for it. I've always heard it was heavy with demons and there was special steps you had to take to get the wickedness out of it. I lack the book of cantations and spells. I did however get the first batch of ripe blackberrys today. We'll be checking them every evening for the next week or two. BilletHead and Terrierman 1 1
oneshot Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I have Blackberries but can’t have them for a couple more weeks. I’ve made many things out of Elderberries and always good. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I knew I wasn't crazy. I googled it and found this: The stems, unripe fruit and leaves are all toxic to humans. Cyanogenic glycoside and alkaloid in these parts of a black elderberry produce stomach upset, diarrhea, vomiting and potentially coma in those who ingest them. Skin irritation may occur from touching elderberry in susceptible individuals. Why do people like you always wanna be eating something that's destined to kill you? 😂 Have you tried Stinging Nettle yet? That stuff is supposed to be the healthiest thing on the planet. Got plenty of that around here too. tjm, nomolites and BilletHead 3

MOPanfisher Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Who eats rhe stems from Elderberries? Pick the whole thing, put it in a walmart sck and into freezer, pull it out an hue later and smack it, the berries fall off in the bag. They make a tasty jelly but not worth it to me.
Terrierman Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Is there such a thing as a younger berry? I waste all my best ideas here, with no patent protection. Invent them, or at least lie about it and market them, and I'd be rich.
