Yes he did do a lot of good with that charity and inspired a lot of people, but it went downhill once all the PED stuff came out.  The guy lost a lot financially and also the potential for future endorsements.

Something else, if he had not done the PED's then would he have won anything and would he have been a household name?  Probably no one ever would've heard of him except for diehard bike racing fans.

And clearly all of them were doing it. But man!    That dude lied over and over.  I forgot about it until I watched it.

Well if you have more to say about snakes or bikes, let's hear it.

Have I ever mentioned that my grandson nearly lost a toe to a pygmy rattlesnake bite?  He was just a little tyke walking around barefoot in the yard.  Turned out to be quite an ordeal.

And about bikes.  I'm surely not the only guy who ever got off the bike and used it for a shield between the angry dog and me.  Let's hear some good dog chases guy on bike stories, what say?

My local bike shop was South Side Cyclery in St Louis city.  We would ride the dirt jumps at Carondelet Park.   I always wanted to get into the long distance biking, just never did.  Couldn't afford the quality stuff, it would be stolen if you could.  I did do the Moonlight Ramble a few times.  Had fun with my boys doing it.

Where's everybody getting these mini fat bikes?  Those are way cool.

My 11 y/o won't ride, I've bought her 3 bikes so far (as she grew out of the previous one) and she has no desire to learn to ride....which bums me out.  We unload them, good as new, at a yard sale every other year.   The other kids love to ride.

Who ever heard of a kid that doesn't want to ride a bicycle?    Art, badminton, and swimming are her big things, that's all she ever wants to do.  She wanted a skateboard for her birthday, got her a nice one, she spent 5 minutes with it, got spooked, and I bet she never touches it again.  It'll be in the next yard sale. 🙄   I tried to ride it.....and Woah, there's a skill I've completely lost.  Scary.

If you're in your 50's and think you still have your $#!t together, just try getting on a skateboard.   I dare you!

Wasn’t a skater in high school.  Still not cool enough to try it now😎

Hard to say!   The whole field was using PEDs.  U guys should watch the documentaries “screwball”  and “Icarus”.  I can’t watch the movie dodgeball anymore cause his speech on quitting means nothing now!

They've moved now, thankfully, but there is a place at the top of a long hill, and the people renting it at the time had an enormous St.Bernard and 3-4 little ankle biters.  The st.bernard was a good boy, stayed in his yard, usually barked lazily a couple times but never bothered anyone....until one day after pumping up the hill and trying to recover from the climb, a couple of the little jackass terriers took in after me.  I didn't have enough left in me to get away from them so when one got too close to my ankle I hauled off and kicked it in the head.  Hard.  This pissed off the big boy....and here he came. I got off the bike and kept it between me and him while 2 of the little fartasses nipped at the back of my legs about 17 times.   Luckily a dude fresh out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist came running out of the house next door, grabbed a snow shovel, started yelling and swinging the shovel.... and basically saved my life.  I ended up with 4 bites total, one on the back of each knee, one on my right calf (that was the worst one), and one on the back of my left ankle.    Ended my ride for the day.

After that I started carrying a can of carb cleaner for awhile. But now I've learned that anytime a dog takes in after me to just get off the bike right away and make friends.  A few pieces of jerky (which I always have with me) is all it takes. 😊 Even onery pit bulls are suckers for that.
