Early archery season 2020

Anyone heading out for early bow season? The season here in MD starts tomorrow. Too hot and way too many mosquitoes from all the rain we have been having the last couple  of weeks. Probably will wait until it cools down and t he bugs retreat.

I will be out Tuesday for opening day morning, as an opening day ritual. Got a new section to hunt, but cameras aren’t showing much potential. May go behind the house again.

Boy, now there's something that I used to be incredibly passionate about, but you couldn't pay me enough to do it anymore.....

Scouting

Setting stands and clearing shooting lanes

Deciding which broadhead to shoot

Bow tuning and sighting in

Fussing over quivers

Scentproofing clothes

Weening myself off the cigs

Growing a beard

Skipping breakfast so I don't get buck fever

Following a blood trail, with an anxiety attack because the shot never sticks where it looked like it did 

Field dressing

Dragging

Checking it in

Stuffing it's tongue back in its mouth to take a pic

Skinning and processing

Cleaning and resharpening the knives

Scrubbing the blood out of the truck bed

Taking down the stands

Good grief!

 

 

Now I have a handful of guys that I just have to casually mention "Man, I'd like to have some deer loins" in their presence......and 2-5 days later they get delivered, all packaged up and ready to cook.

I wonder if those guys don't produce some venison that they wake up with an oil leaking Evinrude in their bed !
