196champ Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Good Morning, I am on the hunt for a semi auto 12 or 20 gauge shotgun. Doesn't need to be anything fancy but open to all options. Looking for a 3" as the 3.5" i have currently doesn't like to cycle light loads. Live in the St. Louis metro and frequent the Shell Knob area. Thanks!
Gumboot Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 I bought my son a Franchi Affinity 12 ga several years ago, liked it so much I bought one in 20ga that I use when I need to shoot steel. Cycles 3" duck loads to light dove/quail loads no problem. It's an inertia gun, so if you're going to be shooting mostly heavy loads might want to opt for a gas gun.
196champ Posted September 18, 2020 Author Posted September 18, 2020 I have a Franchi 912, 3.5" gas gun. I have used it the last 10 years or so, it has suited me well but doesn't like to eat light dove loads or shooting trap and skeet.
MOPanfisher Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 My Rem 11-87 will happily eat light or heavy loads. Shot it a lot at doves and pbeasants. Terrierman 1
jdmidwest Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 I bought a Stoeger 3500 20 last year. Pretty good all purpose light gun. Reasonable priced and inertia system. Stock shims and 3 chokes with a nice vent rib. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
laker67 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 If your looking to vacate a shopping mall parking lot full of looters in downtown St. Louis, I would recommend a 930 or 940 Pro by Mossberg. nomolites, MoCarp, BilletHead and 1 other 1 3
196champ Posted September 19, 2020 Author Posted September 19, 2020 Lucky for me, I have no desire to go anywhere near downtown. Live about 40 min northwest! Anyone have anything for sale? snagged in outlet 3 and laker67 2
Gavin Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Just buy a SBE3, and get on with it. Mine has performed perfectly with light loads from day 1. Terrierman 1
luckycraft Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Remington versamax. Any load. Anywhere. Every time. It’s true
