We never determined that shocking had any negative effect on spawning. The collection of walleye broodstock was shifted exclusively to Warsaw because of the better densities of fish and closer proximity to Blind Pony Hatchery where the fingerlings were raised at that time. The increased walleye stocking was just due to the designation of Stockton as the flagship walleye lake in a new statewide walleye plan. Director Conley was a big proponent of a strong walleye program. BilletHead, Lifes2Short and nomolites 2 1

I think I read it in the MDC publication same place that told of stocking silversides and copper nose bluegills,.... also the planting of submerge weed beds I have slept since then and it was 30 ish years ago i will also note fishing changed when they started pumping water to Springfield... wonder if it changed the thermocline dynamics... water seems clearer or not as much plankton as I remember ....perhaps less chicken caca spread on pastures? IDK trying to remember when the tiger muskies quit showing up MONKEYS? what monkeys?
MoCarp Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Every fall someone would pick up a ‘ski in price branch area of the lake....Seems more largemouth in the lake than in the 80s-90s something is off genetics, forage, Fishing harvest pressure plenty of shad in the lake...flop out a light at night....perhaps fish spend more calories than they should chasing shad only forage? used to be a healthy mayfly population unsure if any benthic insect study has been done more diverse fish populations can’t be a bad thing MONKEYS? what monkeys?

There was also one caught at Caplinger that was posted here a few years ago. -Austin

So, MDC discontinued stocking them. Muskies stocked in Pomme escape thru the dam into Truman and occasionally get caught in Lake of the Ozarks and Truman. I know of none that have been caught in Stockton.

I know of none that have been caught in Stockton. I was talking with a kayak angler a couple of weeks ago at Bait Masters. He was heading to Aldrich. During our conversation he said that he had caught and released a muskie up in the Little Sac this summer. He said it drug his yak all over the place before he got it landed.
