They did this last year. When table rock was close to turning over, they opened floodgates and ran more turbines so they didn’t have to inject liquid oxygen. I guess they want to drop the lakes back down to power pool quickly, or a lot quicker than they could just by running one unit.  I suspect they’ll run this until table rock is down to 915 feet.

Blake is out fishing tonight, in search of walleye. And I’m hoping of course to see some shad come over the top. But last year we didn’t see that many as I recall. We will see. It might get really really really good.

I had started a fishing report for this week… Now I will have to start over.

Man I would go rent a boat if I were you.  Flood gates, especially in the fall or winter are a special time!

I know that is great advice Travis, but I am not a boat person. Most of my buddies know that I am fearful of being in a boat with running water.

oh okay, sorry about that.  I've been up there a ton of times with the gates open but I won't lie it's intimating the first time I get up there every time when they are open.  I always try to make sure the boat is organized, the net is handy but out of the way, minimal rods are on the deck of the boat, slow steady movements the first time or two and most importantly my Mustang inflatable life vest is on.  I love that thing and it doesn't get in the way at all.  After the first drift or two down it feels good and normal but yes Sir it can be intimating at first for sure.

I never understood the fear of moving water, especially on Taneycomo where it's wide open. Maybe I've just drifted too many riffles full of rocks and trees trying to catch smallies in my day to think much of it. High water and flood gates are my favorite time to fish Taneycomo.
