Flysmallie Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 A couple more interesting shots from the beach. The waves coming in were huge for that area. The wind was blowing so hard that as they rolled the wind would blow the tops off. Really cool to see but the wind was blowing so hard that it was like being inside a sandblast cabinet. There’s Helene. We were 200+ miles from where she made landfall. We got wind. That’s it. No big lightning show. No rain. About 20 miles inland it was raining like a mofo. So the interesting thing about these two is time and location. I was taking the first shot and could hear my wife babbling something. She was about 20 yards away trying to stay out of the blowing sand. So when I got tired of not knowing what she was talking about I walked over to her and see she was pointing the other way and then she finally screamed turn around. And that’s when I took the second shot. Same time, same place, one east, and one west. BilletHead, nomolites, bfishn and 3 others 6

I wasn't thrilled with the idea but by Thursday night we were pretty confident it would be ok. They had sunshine and calm winds but the ocean was roaring. They were told $500 fine if you go in the water. I've got relatives in Gainesville and had rain and lost power but no damage. A niece in NC completely dodged the bullet. The damage from that storm is unimaginable. Quillback, Flysmallie and nomolites 3 John
Flysmallie Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I saw some young men get ran off from the pass. They really wanted to stay and surf but the guys in the truck were not having it. Nobody got a ticket though. I really wanted to get some shots of them in the water but the truck got to them before I could. Quillback 1

WestCentralFisher Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Bennett Spring was awfully pretty today. The fishing, well, I didn't get skunked, though I had to work harder at that than usual. Still a lovely day on the river and a few of the nice, long conversations with fellow fishermen that only happen when no one is really catching all that many fish. WestCentralFisher Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Pomme de Terre Lake. Last picture mostly included to show I didn't entirely forget to go fishing... Quillback 1
JUNGLE JIM 1 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I hear them sometimes but this is only the second owl I've seen in the wild. I took this photo yesterday at 7:30 am. Long walk uphill to fish a pond I had heard about and seeing the owl was the highlight of the day. BilletHead, Flysmallie, Quillback and 3 others 6
