I always wear a pfd and kill switch.  But now I'm going to rig a step to help get back in the boat.  Summer time is no big deal but with a bunch of winter clothes and boots on it might be a different story.  So I just want to make sure.  Seems like my buddies fish less and less so if I want to go I have to go alone.

I do this 100% of the time.  I bought two inflatable pfds from bass pro and me and anyone in my boat wears one anytime the boat is in the water.  Kill switch attached every time boat goes faster than wake speed.  The inflatable pfds are so comfortable you forget they are on.

Also, one of the reasons I put pods on my boat was for getting back in.  I used non-slip coating for the tops as well.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

That's a good idea!!

I have Wetlander slick coat on the bottom of mine.  I saw you had an epoxy on yours.

Yeah I used the steelflex 2000 ultra slick.  I am very happy with my choice.

Did you just not see how shallow it was??

Nope. It looked fine to me. I knew it got shallow there, but I thought the water was still high enough to get over it. The "right" way to run that spot is to head down river for a 100 yards, swing left and run up the right side and then cut over to the middle and go through a gap in a rock dike. It was just a bad decision when I knew better.
