Members ChuckUSMC Posted February 13, 2021 Members Posted February 13, 2021 Hi! Retiring to the Batesville area in the next month, and can hardly wait to take up fishing again... especially with my grandson. My own grandfather taught me to fish on Tablerock Lake, and at Roaring River State Park in Missouri almost 50 years ago. It is going to be so nice to get out of the congestion and rush of DFW, Texas. I don't have gobs of money, so I'm hoping I can get by with something like a 15' Jon boat (good used one) and maybe spring for a brand new Honda 9.9hp motor. I don't need anything fancy. My other hobbies include flying RC airplanes and photography. I was in the Army first (to piss off my dad), and then joined the Marines (To kiss and make up. He served 28 years... went from private and retired a Major). Yeah, so I had to go through basic training twice as the Marines didn't consider the Army to be the military. 🙃 Dad got the last laugh. He'll be 80 next year. Anyway, looking forward to retirement and Arkansas (Grandfather buried in Searcy). All the best to all of you! Johnsfolly, laker67, tho1mas and 2 others 5

I’ve got that on the ever growing list of things to do when I’m retired. Loved to build all kinds of models as a kid; recently stuck my toe back into the water again doing a ‘63 Corvette model. There are some talented photographers here on OAF too. There’s a thread going here with some good stuff. John
Gavin Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Semper Fi, and welcome! Congrats on your retirement!
fishinwrench Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 A new Honda 9.9 ? Just gotta ask, what commercial (or ad), or experience you had/saw, that put that crazy idea into your head ? Are we trying to piss off Dad again? 😅

I assume the boat motors are great based on past experiences with Honda. Johnsfolly and Terrierman 2
