ness Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 I think I mentioned it a couple pages back, but we figured out it was mice eating some of our peppers. So, I started setting out traps. So far we've dispatched 15 of them using the Victor traps and Jiffy Chunky (which I think America's Test Kitchen says is best, and I think I agree). 4 traps disappeared -- I have no idea what happened, but I hope some critters aren't suffering with a trap on their tongue/nose/paw/whatever. Did a few sticky traps too. One disappeared, one made it's way halfway across the yard, and two got turned over and covered with dirt. No more sticky traps. Now we've got too many peppers BilletHead and tho1mas 2 John
Fish24/7 Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Decided to cut the season short this year due to drought conditions. It rained twice during the month of August, just not enough to keep things alive. I wasn't going to run up the water bill trying to compensate so I decided to just let everything go. Picked my last two watermelons this morning. Got one more round of jalapenos to take. Harvested the last round of tomatoes too. Was a very successful season despite cutting it a month short! Thinking about building a green house next year. This is the third year in a row where Summer was just too dry here tho1mas 1
