When I first saw the pictures, I was certain it was a sauger.  Sure hoping the DNA shows it to be one.  You'd make the second state record holder I know!

Sauger and walleye do not jump or make long runs. However, a six pound fish on light line argues with authority, especially near the end where it makes power dives at the end. We once had a member called powerdive. BTW, why are you denigrating walleye? Go after crappie first.

I wasn't denigrating them, they are delicious.  And can even be kinda pretty at times

But you can't deny that (inch-for-inch) even a crappie fights harder.    

I've always kinda figured that the reason why everything on them will cut you to the bone.....was to make up for the fact that they have no @$$  😅
