Why?  Is selling boats a bad business?  Just curious.

When is the last time you saw wrench on the positive side of any topic?

Depends on how you do it.  It's certainly possible to fail.

Think of several ways that you think could cause a marine business to fail.....and I'll bet ya that the business in question is doing it.   Likely all of them.

I guess you feel that failing....but looking good while doing it.... isn't really "failing".     Lenders disagree.

No I don't.  You assumed that.  I'm sitting here in sweatpants succeeding....  It was jamy pants but I wear sweats on a treadmill.

I was just wondering why you thought it would fail.  If it was a restaurant or bar I would agree with you due to the documented history of failures in that industry.  I didn't know it was a thing with boats too.

Typically it isn't.  Crusty/Dusty old buildings with boring storefronts can turn into hugely successful empires over time.     But jumping right past those periods of evolution, right into the big-time.......  Risky!

Best to build a loyal customer base through quality products, great customer service, fair pricing, and standing behind the products you sell.  Word of mouth advertising is far better long term than any radio/TV spot hyping the business.

Well they've got a gaggle of wannabe Pro's wearing their jerseys.   That's easy to accomplish though, toss anybody a jersey, a hat, and a bag of plastic crawdads......and they'll sing your song everytime a microphone gets in front of them.

And of course Boat Wraps are a REAL ego booster. Wrap a guys boat and he'll say nice things about you even if you're banging his wife.

Word of mouth from satisfied customers not pro-staffing KVD wannabes.

Fish against some folks in the local weekly derbies that consider themselves on a pro staff.  Guess cashing checks and/or being one of the top sticks isn't a requirement.  Usually they are the ones who have no common courtesy toward their fellow anglers.  Their entry fee spends just as good as the non-prostaffers.

There are many levels of pro staffers all the way from boats at cost to just getting a shirt.
