I quit when I starting getting the dry heaves when I had to unhook one😂 Yeah I graduated from that class awhile back too. After wrestling with a 12#+ carp or buffalo I'm in no mood to stand up and immediately try to do it AGAIN. Same with gar. Once in awhile is ok.....if nothing else is biting, and I'm really bored. But I avoid them otherwise.
FishnDave
I get it. I'm getting burned out, but feel like I should tough it out on the grass carp at least thru the end of the calendar year. Saw a couple snakeskin sheds yesterday. fishinwrench

Are you catching them all on the same style fly? FishnDave

I started off this year trying something. It caught some small grassies early in the year. Turns out all sizes of grass carp like it. You can see it in some of the pictures in the fish's mouth. Its been continuing to work very well, so I've stuck with it. It works here, hard to say if it would work as well anywhere else. I'll keep with it until they quit hitting it, I guess. I don't see any grass carp spots here in MD, but have found those goldfish. Some are large enough to take a decent sized fly. They were spooky. Sometimes white is the best color for goldfish, have also caught them on silver and on chartreuse. Johnsfolly
Ham
I'm gonna say your John Deere would work for Goldies as well as the cream colored version of the John Deere. I know first hand the cream colored one works Johnsfolly and FishnDave 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
