dan hufferd Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Well I still haven't redone my boat flooring. I have a 2004 tracker deep V dual console. The decking appears to be marine plywood. It's beginning to warp in places. I am looking for a wood alternative that I don't have to cover or paint, if there is such a thing. What do you all think of this? https://www.miuraboard.com/
nomolites Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Interesting. Sheeting looks to be about 30% heavier than marine plywood but if you won’t be covering with carpeting, etc. it will balance out to some degree. I wonder if it has been used in this application commercially? Mike

MrGiggles Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 The thing with plastic is that it's not very rigid or temperature stable. You may find that it needs much less span between supports, and may buckle in the summer from heat expansion. Although if that stuff is truly designed to be a plywood equivalent, perhaps they have engineered them to not have those problems. Marine plywood is no different than exterior ACX or whatever, but it has no voids and may have more plies. ACX will work just fine if you coat it. Carpet is easy to apply, forgiving, cheap, and easy to find. Marine vinyl is a much better looking product that's easy to clean, but has none of those qualities. dan hufferd 1 -Austin
fishinwrench Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Synthetic lumber of some kind has been used for dock walkways and flooring for quite awhile. It looks good and seems to last awhile before succumbing to UV deterioration and becoming brittle. My biggest hangup with it is that it creaks, pops, and snaps loudly when it flexes as you walk on it. Light colored (gray or tan) SeaDeck foam is feather-light, keeps water from ever contacting the plywood, drys completely in 5 minutes, and it stays cool when sitting out in the sun. It's way better than carpet, but only time will tell how long it lasts. dtrs5kprs, nomolites, BilletHead and 1 other 3 1

Good to know, the product is not plastic, or poly' I work with plastic so I know some things about it's behavior, this product is made from recycled carpet, so I guess nylon. There is a pic of Starbucks on their website, I might have drive over and check out thier siding. More research is required by me for sure. I am not anxious to gut my boat😫
Dutch Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Have you considered aluminum covered with sea deck? I built an aluminum deck extension for a Lowe. It worked great. dtrs5kprs and dan hufferd 1 1
fishinwrench Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 I did my little fly fishing Jon boat in SeaDeck. So far I love it. The stuff is kinda pricey but even if it only last 4-5 years I think I'd do it again. snagged in outlet 3, dan hufferd, dtrs5kprs and 1 other 4
