Ram has been the best truck I’ve ever owned out of 6. Toyota holds value hands down more than any other vehicle. That is a fact. Scotty Kilmer on YouTube says get the Ford 150 with a coyote engine. 4 million subscribers and over a billion views. Pretty legit source for auto related issues. He loves Toyota too. Hates GM and Ram. Especially the engines that shut down 4 cylinders when not needed. mine has that feature but I run it in tow/haul mode all the time so it doesn’t do that. I would sell outright before trading. Especially a 4Runner. MOstreamer, Mitch f, Quillback and 1 other 3 1

Aside from the indicator on the dash panel, I don't notice anything happening when the 6.4 Hemi switches between eco and normal mode. The only time I punch the tow/haul button is when I'm taking off with a heavy load (camper is ~10k), or towing through town where there's a bunch of stop-n-go traffic. I find tow/haul mode to be completely unnecessary, even downright obnoxious, when towing at highway speeds. It raises the shift points way too high, and takes away the top two gears. I'd be lucky to get 4mpg if I ran it like that all the time. Your '13 model has, I think, a six speed transmission and a bit, but not much, less hp and torque compared to the 6.4. I would think that the highway performance would be more than adequate in normal mode, especially pulling a light load like a fishing boat. snagged in outlet 3, Mitch f and Quillback 3
Devan S. Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 I would like to upgrade to a 3/4 ton or bigger but just cant handle the prices. I need to haul cattle 2-3 times a year(think 20+ 6 wt calves), ability to haul 10-15k tractors and equipment, and hay. Its got me seriously considering a larger series trucks(450,550) or a day cab semi. You want a no frills work truck for actual work and start shopping for semi's and you suddenly realize what the US truck market is. Quillback 1

T/H runs all 8 cylinders all the time and delays the shift point in mine. I get about 13-14 mpg no matter what I have it at. That’s calculated on fill ups keeping track of mileage which matches the computer BTW. 45acp 1

Oh. He uses click bait titles all the time too. Which that may be the case with those. I think I saw the ones you are talking about.

Terrierman Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 I have a 2017 Cummins powered Ram 2500. Great truck that I wanted to be able to tow a 33' that weighs about 8500 pounds loaded. It's great for that. If I only wanted to tow a boat, I'd still have the 1500 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi that I traded in. Diesel trucks are great for heavy duty and long life. Fuel cost is roughly equivalent to a gas truck but maintenance will eat your lunch. Quillback is right, the dollars favor a gas truck over a diesel, until you really need the power and are willing to stay in the same truck for a long time. Which I am. This is possibly my last truck, with any luck, it will outlast me. And then the dollars will favor the diesel. Even so, gas trucks last a LONG time now. 150K is really nothing anymore. Back in the good old days a 100,000 mile truck was shot. Mitch f, nomolites and Quillback 3
