MOPanfisher Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I love sushi. I will also admit to having had some freshwater sushi. Thun slices of crappie with a sprinkle of Slap Yo Mama on it, was during a fish fry, a dare and Alcahol were both involved. But it wasn't that bad.
Terrierman Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Big fan of sushi and ceviche. But the line is drawn and channel catfish are on the other side.

I've read that all freshwater fish should be cooked before using in sushi. Eels need to be cooked since most of their lives are in freshwater. Salmon do not since they spend most of their lives in saltwater. Gavin Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Dunno....Flathead belly, carp, or skipjack might have enough fat to have some flavor on top of rice. Might be a new way to use all that "red meat" that folks slice off of spoonies, and white bass. Thinking sushi made with crappie would have no fish taste at all.

But the crappie had very little flavor except for the slap ya mamma on it.
MoCarp Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 Flatheads would be interesting 🤔 I wonder if walleye spawn/ egg sacks prepped this way would be good skip the sun drying and use the dehydrator after the salt cure MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Johnsfolly Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Out this way shad roe is a big delicacy. I haven't been adventurous enough to try it yet.
Terrierman Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Go ahead John, roe of any description is great. Not joking.
