I’ve always thought it was hilarious to name a fly after yourself…ie the “Dahlberg Diver

What would be even more hilarious is to name a person after a fly.

You should change your screen name to Fudpucker. 😂

I don't think most of these people actually named a fly after themselves as much as other fisherman have named them after the original tier. But fly names are dumb. The really good flies don't even have names.

I tied one Saturday night that was just what I came up with from the materials that happened to be on my desk at the time. First fish on Sunday was a 16 inch spot. Caught a bunch of little smallmouth on it and then ended up letting a larger spot have it after I got overly excited and busted him off. That fly will never have a name. Or maybe it will be the RRHP (Ronnie's River Hopper Popper).

I've been having luck catching wipers and whites by throwing this at schools of busting  bait fish. It's inspired by Brian Wises Knuckle Head articulated pattern.

And by the way, I do like these. I need to try that.

The scud is just hairs ear dub a tungsten bead and red thread . brush out really picky throw some hard as nails on the back and whack the trout over the head with it. Something about the red gets them juiced up. I didn't have olive thread or scud dubb that day but i do now . I have tried the same fly in olive and tan and still never work as good as that little guy with the red and no wire wraps. I think naming the flies is a lot of pressure ... So many creative ones out there that its hard to pick something. Gallup says people have made it where he wants to name his flies bill or Steve... Oh well

It’s really just a fancy gurgler.

Do you tie a "diver" pattern too?  I bet you got the name already picked out for that as well. 😜

Seriously, I do like divers but haven't fished one much in a long time outside of wiggle minnows. Honestly I haven't been targeting bass much with a fly rod in quite some time. That's going to increase though. It's just too much fun. And I feel I'm getting a bit better at casting while sitting on a kayak. Just need more practice days.
