I've got a decent collection of some pretty good knives.  I like to keep them sharp.  Some of the knives have modern knife steels (S90V, S35VN, CPM154, 3V, D2) that will hold an edge for a very long time but they can be difficult to sharpen.  I've used a Lansky sharpening system for years and also have and use a Chef's Choice.  They're both good sharpening systems but it seemed I needed more capability.   I was having a time with a couple of knives that have very hard steel.  Read a little about the Ken Onion Worksharp and decided to give it a try.

Wow, talk about a game changer.  Sharpens any knife to shaving sharp in no time.  This sharpener can handle serrated blades and also gut hooks.

Fully recommended.

Mine is the standard work sharp. Would not use anything else.

I'll  have to look into this. I use the Lansky kits. Haven't  sharpened our knives in a couple of years. Need to get them all done.

I still like the Arkansas Bench stones and honing oil.  I do have a multitude of sharpeners.  But the seasonal one that I pull out for the sharpening of the knives is the stones.  Finish them off to shave in leather hone strops.

I have V sticks for the scissors and kitchen knives or a metallic stick.  I keep some dog bone style ceramics in the truck and kit boxes for touchups.  I have one of the Worksharp Guided Field Sharpeners for quick edges, its a combo tool with grit, ceramic, and leather and 20 degree angle guides.
